We deliver high-precision laser-cut components and fully assembled functional prototypes to clients across manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, defense, and advanced technology sectors. Our focus is on rapid iteration, tight tolerances, and turning innovative designs into working hardware.
Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and hands-on Prototype Assembly Technician to join our team. Support material handling, including receiving, staging, and organizing parts and materials for assembly jobs. Assist with secondary fabrication tasks such as deburring, hardware installation, light machining, and finishing operations. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following all shop safety protocols. Collaborate with engineers, laser operators, and other team members to troubleshoot assembly issues and support rapid prototyping iterations. Help with inventory tracking, packing, and shipping of finished prototypes and parts. Follow detailed work instructions and contribute to continuous improvement of assembly processes.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or trade school experience is a plus. Previous experience in assembly, fabrication, or a manufacturing/production environment (prototype or low-volume work preferred). Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on ability to work with precision components and tools. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, assembly instructions, and BOMs. Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work. Strong work ethic, reliability, and a willingness to learn new processes and techniques. Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a small team. Flexibility to work overtime and occasional weekends during busy prototype builds.
Benefits:
Competitive hourly wage based on experience and skills. Health insurance benefits. Opportunities for career growth and skill development in a growing prototype fabrication company. Positive, supportive, and technically stimulating work environment. Direct involvement in exciting, cutting-edge projects. If you are a motivated builder who takes pride in turning parts into functional prototypes and want to be part of a dynamic team working on innovative projects, we encourage you to apply for the Prototype Assembly Technician position at Pittsburgh Laser Cutting.
