Test It. Troubleshoot It. Make It Work. CHL Systems is hiring an Assembly & Testing Technician II to assemble, install, inspect, troubleshoot, and test custom material handling equipment, conveyance systems, machinery, and related equipment. This is hands-on custom equipment work. You'll independently work from engineering drawings, 3D models, bills of materials (BOMs), work orders, and other project documentation to complete mechanical assembly, electrical wiring, testing, and troubleshooting with limited supervision. Hourly pay based on experience Weekly pay Medical, dental, and vision, PTO, paid holidays, and 401(k) with company match Stable, family-owned company with more than 65 years in business Clean, organized, safety-focused manufacturing environment Opportunity to build and test custom equipment instead of repetitive production work Long-term career growth and advancement opportunities What You'll Do Assemble custom material handling equipment, conveyance systems, machinery, and related equipment Read and interpret engineering drawings, 3D models, BOMs, work orders, and assembly documentation Perform mechanical assembly, fitting, alignment, adjustment, installation, and equipment setup Use hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment, test equipment, and application-specific tooling Perform basic and intermediate electrical wiring, including motor wiring, within demonstrated capabilities Inspect, test, and verify completed assemblies for quality and conformance to engineering requirements Troubleshoot routine mechanical, electrical, assembly, and component issues Identify discrepancies in drawings, components, or assembly conditions and communicate concerns to the appropriate team members Take ownership of assigned work through completion while meeting safety, quality, and project requirements Recommend practical improvements to assembly methods, quality, efficiency, and manufacturability Support less-experienced technicians within your areas of proficiency Safely operate cranes, forklifts, aerial lifts, and other material-handling equipment when trained and authorized Travel to customer sites as needed to support installation, testing, and troubleshooting Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED 2-4 years of mechanical assembly, machinery, material handling, manufacturing, or related technical experience Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on proficiency using hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment Ability to independently read and interpret engineering drawings, 3D models, BOMs, work orders, and assembly documentation Experience with mechanical assembly, fitting, alignment, adjustment, and installation Working knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including basic and intermediate wiring, motor wiring, and electrical testing Ability to independently assemble, inspect, test, and troubleshoot equipment of moderate complexity Strong communication and problem-solving skills Preferred Qualifications Experience assembling custom machinery, automation equipment, conveyor systems, or material handling equipment Experience assembling custom machinery, automation equipment, conveyor systems, or material handling equipment Experience troubleshooting both mechanical and electrical issues on industrial equipment Experience using test equipment to verify equipment operation and assembly quality Knowledge of safe rigging practices for machinery and equipment Experience operating forklifts, overhead cranes, or aerial lifts Experience supporting or providing technical assistance to less-experienced technicians Work Environment and Physical Requirements Active manufacturing environment with regular standing, walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, and repetitive hand movements Frequently lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds with approved lifting equipment Regular use of hand tools, power tools, assembly and testing equipment, and material-handling devices Work around moving machinery, noise, fumes, airborne particles, vibration, and electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and rotating equipment May operate forklifts, overhead cranes, aerial lifts, and other material-handling equipment when trained and authorized May require work at customer locations About CHL Systems For more than 65 years, CHL Systems has designed and built custom automation, conveyor, packaging, and material handling equipment for manufacturers throughout North America.
