Job Description
Manufacturing Team Member - Assembly & Material Handling (Vonore, TN) We're hiring a hands-on, active team member to support manufacturing operations through assembly, machine operation, material handling, inventory control, and workplace organization. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys staying busy, can follow detailed work instructions, and is committed to safety, quality, and accuracy in a fast-paced production environment. About JTEKT Automotive Tennessee (Vonore, TN) JTEKT Automotive Tennessee is a Tier 1 automotive parts manufacturer and one of the largest employers in Monroe County. The facility produces advanced manual, hydraulic, and electric power-steering systems and steering columns for major automakers. What You'll Do Assembly & Production Use hand tools and production equipment to assemble and inspect parts Follow work instructions, charts, labels, and other production documentation Perform basic troubleshooting when issues occur Inspect parts for quality and accuracy Rotate between workstations/production loops as needed Perform repetitive tasks while meeting productivity and quality expectations Material Handling & Inventory Safely operate a stand-up tugger to deliver materials to areas such as assembly, machining, powder coat, and hose lines Pull and deliver Kanban orders to the correct locations Scan Kanban cards to maintain accurate inventory levels Read labels and verify materials/quantities for accuracy Follow FIFO (First-In, First-Out) procedures and labeling standards Support inventory accuracy and 5S workplace standards Workplace Organization / 5S Keep work areas clean, safe, and organized Sweep, mop, and wipe down equipment/work surfaces as needed Follow all safety, quality, housekeeping, and production procedures Required Qualifications & Abilities High school diploma or GED required Valid driver's license required for material handling/control stores roles Strong hand coordination, finger dexterity, and fine motor skills Ability to read and understand basic instructions, charts, labels, and Kanban cards Strong attention to detail (assembling, inspecting, scanning, labeling, and verifying materials) Ability to follow procedures consistently and work safely in a fast-paced environment Ability to walk 6-7 miles per shift Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks Ability to bend, twist, squat, push/pull throughout the shift Ability to regularly lift/handle materials up to 32 lbs Ability to work full shifts, including schedules that may require 5-7 days/week Reliable, safety-focused, and quality-minded
