Job Description

About the Position Renaissance GSB is seeking an experienced Senior Assembly Technician to join our production team manufacturing custom solid bronze architectural windows and doors. This is a skilled, hands-on position for someone who is mechanically inclined, detail oriented, and experienced in building or assembling precision products. Our products are highly custom and require more judgment and problem solving than repetitive production-line assembly. The Senior Assembly Technician will take precision-machined components and assemble them into completed window and door systems while ensuring each product meets our standards for fit, alignment, operation, dimensional accuracy, and cosmetic quality. This is not an entry-level assembly position. The successful candidate should be able to independently evaluate their work, identify problems, determine appropriate adjustments, and complete assemblies to the required standard with limited supervision. Key Responsibilities Assemble custom bronze windows, doors, frames, operable panels, and related components from precision-machined parts. Read and interpret shop drawings, including elevations, dimensions, and section details. Measure accurately using a tape measure to the nearest 1/32 inch. Check frames and panels for squareness, diagonal measurements, alignment, parallelism, reveals, clearances, gaps, and proper fit between frames and operable components. Compare completed assemblies and individual components to dimensions and requirements shown on production drawings. Install, adjust, and test all types of window and door hardware, including hinges, locks, handles, multipoint hardware, strikes, pivots, latches, and related components. Diagnose fit, alignment, hardware, and operational problems and determine the adjustments needed to correct them. Work collaboratively with machining, production, or other team members when a problem requires input or corrective action from another department. Perform operational checks to ensure doors and windows open, close, latch, lock, and function correctly. Perform quality-control inspections throughout the assembly process and identify or reject components that do not meet dimensional, functional, or cosmetic standards. Assist other assemblers with technical questions, troubleshooting, and checking assemblies when needed. Protect finished bronze surfaces and identify scratches, dents, tool marks, damage, improper fit, or other cosmetic defects before an assembly moves to the next stage. Maintain an organized work area and work efficiently while maintaining the quality standards required for high-end custom architectural products. Support other production departments as needed and follow company safety procedures, work instructions, and quality standards. Required Qualifications Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in a precision trade, mechanical assembly, fabrication, construction trade, cabinetry, millwork, architectural products, or similar skilled work. Strong mechanical aptitude and demonstrated ability to build, assemble, fit, or adjust components. Proficient at reading a standard tape measure to the nearest 1/32 inch. Ability to read and understand fabrication drawings, shop drawings, elevations, dimensions, and section details. Comfortable checking diagonals, squareness, alignment, reveals, gaps, clearances, and parallelism. Strong problem-solving ability and the judgment to recognize when an assembly does not meet the required standard and determine how to correct it. Strong attention to both functional and cosmetic quality. Ability to work independently with limited supervision while communicating and collaborating effectively with the production team. Reliable attendance and punctuality. Ability to prioritize work and meet production schedules without sacrificing quality. High school diploma or GED preferred. Tool Experience Candidates should be comfortable using common fabrication and assembly tools, including: Tape measures, framing squares, and levels Drills and impact drivers Taps and dies Files and deburring tools Grinders and sanders Clamps Wrenches, screwdrivers, and common hand tools Preferred Experience Experience in any of the following is beneficial but not required: Window and door manufacturing or installation Architectural metal fabrication, cabinetry, millwork, glazing, or custom fabrication Precision mechanical assembly or high-end architectural products Working with finished or appearance-critical materials Bronze, brass, stainless steel, or aluminum fabrication Welding Using calipers or other precision measuring instruments Candidates from other skilled trades are encouraged to apply if they have strong mechanical ability, craftsmanship, and experience producing work where fit, finish, and accuracy matter. What We Are Looking For The ideal candidate takes pride in building things correctly. Because every Renaissance product is custom, this position requires more than following a repetitive sequence of instructions. We are looking for someone who can understand how an assembly is supposed to fit and operate, identify when something is not correct, and determine what needs to be adjusted. Mechanically inclined and detail-oriented Quality-focused with a strong sense of craftsmanship A practical problem solver Self-directed and dependable Comfortable solving problems independently while knowing when collaboration is needed Able to work well with others and contribute to continuous improvement Work Environment & Physical Requirements This is a hands-on manufacturing position, not an office position. The employee will work primarily in the assembly department within a manufacturing facility that is not climate controlled and may assist other departments as needed. Remain on your feet for most of the workday. Regularly lift and handle up to 50 pounds. Work with larger and heavier window and door assemblies with team assistance when appropriate.
