Job Overview We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Assembly Technician III to join our production team in Herndon, VA. In this role, you will perform hands-on assembly, calibration, and testing of electronic and mechanical components for medical device products. You will work from engineering drawings, diagrams, and work instructions, and play a key role in maintaining quality standards on the production floor. Key Responsibilities Perform mechanical and electronic assembly and subassembly of medical device products using hand and power tools, jigs, and fixtures Calibrate manufacturing assembly processes and equipment in coordination with engineering Conduct quality inspections on the production line in accordance with quality specifications and work instructions Disassemble, modify, rework, reassemble, and test experimental or prototype assemblies and subassemblies according to specifications Collect and evaluate operating data to make necessary adjustments to products, instruments, and equipment Maintain required production records (e.g. Device History Records) and report inconsistencies or equipment issues following standard procedures Troubleshoot production problems and make necessary corrective adjustments to equipment setups Train and mentor new technicians on assembly processes and quality requirements Support process improvement and efficiency initiatives on the production floor Required Qualifications 2+ years of experience in electronic and/or mechanical assembly in a manufacturing environment Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, diagrams, work instructions, and assembly procedures Hands-on experience with hand tools, power tools, torque drivers, and calipers Proficiency with precision measuring instruments and assembly fixtures Strong attention to detail, concentration, and fine motor coordination Ability to perform repetitive motion tasks involving wrists, hands, and fingers Basic math and computer skills Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions Strong communication skills — able to escalate issues clearly to supervisors Flexible team player capable of adapting to changing priorities and assignments Preferred Qualifications Experience in medical device assembly or other regulated manufacturing environment (FDA, ISO 13485, GMP) Experience with electronics or PCB assembly, soldering, or component-level work Experience with optical or camera module assembly and calibration Familiarity with UV cure adhesive equipment and microscopy tools Experience completing Device History Records (DHR) or similar quality documentation Knowledge of quality systems such as ISO 13485 or familiarity with QMS platforms Personal Attributes Dependable and punctual with a strong sense of ownership Detail-oriented and process-driven Self-motivated with the ability to work independently under general supervision Physical Demands Up to 80-100% of the workday may be spent at a lab bench May require periods of standing or sitting in a controlled lab environment Must be physically mobile with the ability to walk, crouch, reach, and stand with reasonable accommodation
