Job Summary:
Assembles a variety of merchandise for display and/or sale to customers using common hand tools.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assembles a variety of items such as bicycles, strollers, furniture, grills, lawn and garden equipment, etc. using common hand tools following manufacturer's instructions. Items are assembled both for display and for customers after purchase. Inspects finished products prior to delivery to ensure proper working order and advises customers on proper use and maintenance of equipment. Installs optional equipment purchased by customers. Performs selling duties such as assisting customers in the selection of merchandise and bicycles and advises on optional equipment available for purchase. Performs minor repairs such as clean equipment, adjust brakes/gears, refinish minor scratches, replacing worn or broken parts, etc. Maintains work area in a safe and orderly manner. May assist in backroom and stocking, receiving functions as necessary. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Physical Effort:
Stands, walks, bends, and lifts light to medium weight bulky objects. May use a handcart to move stock within/to/from the storage and selling locations. Assists customers in loading merchandise into vehicles. This position may be required to supply the tools necessary to perform the duties assigned.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Twelve months experience assembling items such as bicycles, strollers, furniture, grills, lawn and garden equipment, etc.
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE
One year of high school education may be substituted for 3 months of experience up to a High School Diploma or GED for 12 months of experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Stands, walks, bends, and lifts light to medium weight bulky objects. May use a handcart to move stock. Assists customers in loading merchandise into vehicles.
