Job Description

Nelson Truss Inc is seeking to hire a Truss Assembler to work in our Edgerton Truss plant. This is a first shift position, Monday through Friday from 6:00am - 2:30pm (6:00am - 3:30pm during our busy season).
Job duties include:
Assist in the construction and assembly of metal plated wood trusses using jig systems such as rolling gantry table and hand press systems. Lift and handle dimensional lumber of varying sizes and lengths. Climb on to jig systems to arrange material properly. Retrieve metal connector plates per shop drawings and place in proper locations for building trusses. Operate forklift to move lumber carts, trash, etc. Mark trusses with tag numbers. Use metal strap banders to tie truss batches together. Re-stock plates, lumber carts, pallets, etc. Perform general area clean-up duties.
Qualifications:
A qualified applicant will have basic carpentry knowledge Ability to read and follow engineered drawings Basic understanding of lumber sizes/grades/types Ability to use trade tools (such as saws, hammers, squares, tape measures, etc.) Basic understanding and use of arithmetic along with ability to use a calculator Ability to work in a team environment. Punctuality and ability to consistently maintain reliable full-time attendance. Forklift experience is beneficial, but not required Applicants must be able to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
