Production Operations Manager - Beverage Manufacturing Confidential Torrance, CA Job Details Full-time $120,000 - $140,000 a year 1 day ago Qualifications Operations management Six Sigma Green Belt Performance management Manufacturing facility experience Production planning Full Job Description We are an established beverage manufacturing company seeking an experienced, hands-on Production Operations Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of a high-speed beverage production line. This is a highly visible, floor-based management position. The Production Operations Manager will be responsible for coordinating production personnel, maintenance activities, staffing, production schedules, operating supplies, and equipment reliability. We are looking for someone who enjoys being on the production floor, working directly with operators and mechanics, solving problems, and taking ownership of getting production completed safely and efficiently. Responsibilities Manage the day-to-day operation of the production shift and production line. Supervise production employees and coordinate the activities of maintenance personnel. Schedule production personnel and ensure appropriate staffing for scheduled production. Communicate daily and upcoming production requirements to employees and maintenance personnel. Coordinate closely with purchasing and production scheduling to ensure materials, ingredients, packaging components, and other requirements are available when needed. Monitor production equipment and work closely with operators to identify mechanical or operational problems before they result in extended downtime. Prioritize maintenance needs and coordinate mechanics to address equipment problems. Ensure preventive and scheduled maintenance is completed on time. Follow up on equipment repairs and recurring problems to ensure they are properly resolved. Assist maintenance personnel with identifying and obtaining parts, supplies, outside services, and other resources necessary to complete repairs. Ensure production supplies such as shrink film, coding ink, packaging materials, lubricants, and other operating supplies are maintained at appropriate levels. Monitor production performance, downtime, staffing, and equipment reliability. Identify opportunities to improve line efficiency, throughput, changeovers, equipment reliability, and labor utilization. Work with operators and mechanics to troubleshoot production problems and develop practical solutions. Maintain strong communication among production, maintenance, scheduling, purchasing, quality, and management. Establish clear expectations for employees and hold team members accountable for performance, attendance, conduct, safety, and company procedures. Document employee performance and disciplinary matters as necessary and take appropriate corrective action. Participate in hiring, training, discipline, and termination decisions. Maintain a safe, organized, productive working environment. Qualifications Significant experience in manufacturing, production, packaging, or a related industrial environment. Previous experience managing production employees. Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to communicate effectively with experienced maintenance personnel. Experience coordinating maintenance and preventive maintenance activities. Ability to recognize developing equipment problems and prioritize maintenance response. Strong organizational and scheduling skills. Comfortable making decisions and holding employees accountable. Strong problem-solving skills and a practical approach to improving manufacturing efficiency. Ability and willingness to spend substantial time on the production floor. Beverage, food, bottling, canning, or high-speed packaging experience is strongly preferred. Experience with filling, packaging, conveying, coding, cartoning, shrink-wrapping, or similar production equipment is a plus. The Person We're Looking For This position requires someone who takes ownership of the operation. The successful candidate will know what is being produced, whether the line is properly staffed, whether materials and supplies are available, what equipment is causing problems, what maintenance needs to be performed, and who is responsible for getting it done. This is not primarily a desk position. We are looking for a manager who is comfortable spending significant time on the production floor, communicating with operators and mechanics, observing equipment performance, and addressing problems as they develop. The Production Operations Manager does not need to personally perform every equipment repair. However, strong mechanical understanding and the ability to effectively manage and prioritize maintenance activities are important to success in this position.
Pay:
$120,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
