Backed by Cowboy Group's more than 20 years of industry experience and state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in China, Mooton offers five product lines: outdoor playground equipment, water park equipment, indoor playground equipment, early childhood play spaces, and family play spaces. As our U.S. business continues to expand, Mooton is establishing a new manufacturing facility in the City of Industry-Chino area of California. We are seeking a hands-on Production Manager to help build the factory from the ground up and lead its long-term manufacturing operations. This is a unique opportunity to establish production systems, build a local team, introduce equipment and processes, and play a key role in the growth of Mooton's U.S. manufacturing operations. Position Overview The Production Manager will lead the full lifecycle of the company's U.S. factory, from initial setup and start-up through stable, high-performing operations. During the start-up phase, this role will establish production systems, introduce equipment and production lines, build the local team, and support local supply-chain development. Once operational, the Production Manager will own production, quality, cost, delivery, safety, and people management. Key ResponsibilitiesFactory Start-Up and Launch
- Participate in factory planning, including production and warehouse layout, equipment configuration, production-line design, and capacity planning.
- Partner with headquarters to define manufacturing processes, routing, workstations, and production-capacity plans based on product and process requirements.
- Lead the introduction, installation, commissioning, acceptance, and production-readiness of equipment, tooling, and related manufacturing resources.
- Establish core operating systems and SOPs for production, quality, safety, maintenance, and warehousing.
- Support development of local suppliers, subcontractors, and critical-material channels for the U.S. supply chain.
- Build the production organization, including staffing plans, recruiting, onboarding, training, qualification, and foundational performance management.
- Lead trial production, issue closure, ramp-up, and formal launch to achieve stable operations on schedule. Manufacturing Operations
- Own day-to-day manufacturing operations and execute production plans to meet quality, cost, and delivery commitments.
- Coordinate people, equipment, materials, processes, and shop-floor resources; rapidly resolve production constraints and exceptions.
- Build and continuously improve shop-floor management across people, equipment, materials, methods, quality, environment, and safety.
- Manage key KPIs including productivity, manufacturing cost, first-pass yield, on-time delivery, and safety performance; drive continuous improvement.
- Partner closely with procurement, engineering, design, sales, project management, and logistics to ensure successful project and order delivery.
- Lead team performance, development, succession planning, and retention for key production roles.
- Drive standardization, lean practices, and data-based management to improve visibility and scalability.
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety requirements, regulations, and internal policies; identify and manage operational risks.
- Provide regular management reporting on operating performance, priorities, risks, and improvement plans. Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, industrial engineering, automation, operations management, or a related field preferred.
- Three or more years of manufacturing operations leadership experience; experience as a Production Manager, Manufacturing Manager, or Plant Operations Manager is preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of production planning, shop-floor management, quality, cost, maintenance, and people management.
- Strong execution, organization, cross-functional coordination, and hands-on problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lead effectively in a fast-changing, multi-priority start-up environment.
- Strong safety and quality mindset with a commitment to standardized operations.
- Professional working proficiency in English.
- Ability to complete approximately three months of training at the company headquarters in China and then work at the U.S. factory location. Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a U.S. manufacturing company or factory.
- Experience launching a new facility, building a production line, relocating a factory, or developing local suppliers.
- Experience in playground equipment, metal fabrication, machinery, steel structures, custom equipment, or a comparable manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of U.S. manufacturing safety, environmental, employment, and production-related requirements.
- Bilingual Chinese-English communication skills.
- Experience with lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, ERP/MES, or production data management.
