Job Description
Assistant Plant Manager Wallingford, CT 06492 Full-time Full-time Ferti Technologies is a growing company that is a blender of specialty fertilizers for landscape professionals, golf courses and the retail market. Founded in 1987, Ferti Technologies produces premium quality fertilizers and amendments brought to the market through a network of distributors and retailers while always employing the same exact production standards. We are looking for a highly motivated professional individual that is goal-oriented with an emphasis on production efficiency, quality control, safety, and facility maintenance to join our Wallingford, CT Team. The successful candidate will be a team player, exhibit a positive attitude and be open to flexible work responsibilities and hours. Responsibilities:
In this key role, the Assistant Plant Manager will be tasked with meeting all goals related to production, shipping, and maintenance operations. Key responsibilities include assurance of production output goals, quality, cost efficiencies, inventory management, downtime, team building and a safe work environment.Responsibilities include:
- Responsible for daily production operations within multiple lines and/or shifts to ensure blending of fertilizer products within established timeframes, quality, and cost standards.
- Responsible for the Shipping Department and Warehouse organization and safety.
- Responsible for the Maintenance Department to provide a safe facility and minimize production downtime through total preventative maintenance (TPM), project planning and parts management.
- Coordinates equipment and Facility maintenance emergency repairs, project planning, training, and implementation.
- Customer service involvement and communication daily.
- Responsible for meeting established production goals, controlling overtime, and reducing FTE's cost per bag daily.
- Responsible for safety and environmental policy enforcement, including oversight of OSHA safety compliance for Employees, the facility, and operations.
- Participates and encourages Continuous Improvement operational and facility initiatives.
- Responsible for controlling and minimizing maintenance, production, and facility operating costs.
- Responsible for hiring, training, performance reviews, discipline and termination of all Production, Shipping and Maintenance Employees.
Qualifications:
Education- 2-year associate's or 4-year bachelor's degree preferred or 3 years of similar experience.
- LEAN Manufacturing knowledge a plus.
Requirements:
- Three years' management experience in manufacturing, distribution or related environment.
- Strong customer service skills with an understanding of production metrics and implementation.
- Ability to train, coach, and mentor associates.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient with MS Excel, Word, Outlook and capable of learning company software and database applications. SAP knowledge a plus.
- Ability to work independently.
- Strong bias towards building and establishing productive work teams.
- Knowledgeable in all safety, personal protection equipment requirements, and ensure that all policies are adhered to and all associates are properly trained in accordance with state and federal laws.
- Knowledge of industrial electrical, mechanical, and automated equipment. Ability to troubleshoot/use resources.
- Loader / forklift experience is a plus.
