Job Description
Sanitation Manager Easy Foods, Inc. - Kissimmee, Florida Position Summary The Sanitation Manager is responsible for developing, leading, and continuously improving the sanitation systems that protect Easy Foods' products, customers, and brand. This role provides direct leadership to the Sanitation Department while serving as the facility's subject matter expert and standard bearer for sanitation excellence across the organization. The Sanitation Manager oversees the execution and effectiveness of all sanitation programs, ensuring compliance with FDA, USDA, SQF, GMP, HACCP, SSOP, and company food safety standards. While directly managing the sanitation team, this role also provides technical leadership and oversight for sanitation activities performed by Production, Maintenance, Engineering, and third-party contractors. Success in this position requires a leader with exceptional technical expertise, strong cross-functional influence, and the managerial courage to hold every department accountable to the highest sanitation and food safety standards. This individual must be willing to stop work, challenge decisions, and escalate concerns whenever product integrity or regulatory compliance is at risk. Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Accountability Lead, coach, and develop the facility's sanitation team through clear expectations, accountability, and continuous development. Provide technical leadership and oversight for sanitation activities performed by Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and third-party contractors. Build strong cross-functional relationships while maintaining the independence necessary to protect food safety and regulatory compliance. Establish sanitation performance standards and hold all departments accountable for meeting them. Demonstrate the managerial courage to intervene, stop work when necessary, and escalate sanitation or food safety concerns regardless of department or organizational level. Foster a culture where sanitation and food safety are shared responsibilities across the organization. Food Safety & Sanitation Own and continuously improve the Master Sanitation Schedule. Develop, implement, and maintain effective SSOPs for all production equipment and facility areas. Lead pre-operational inspections and verify production readiness. Verify sanitation effectiveness through ATP testing, microbiological verification, environmental monitoring, allergen validation, and visual inspection. Ensure sanitation procedures consistently meet FDA, USDA, SQF, GMP, HACCP, and customer requirements. Drive continuous improvement in sanitation effectiveness, labor efficiency, chemical utilization, water conservation, and cleaning methodologies. Partner with Engineering and Maintenance to improve equipment cleanability and hygienic design. Regulatory Compliance & Audit Readiness Ensure compliance with all applicable food safety and regulatory requirements, including FDA, USDA, SQF, GMP, HACCP, and internal food safety programs. Maintain complete sanitation documentation and verification records. Lead sanitation readiness for SQF, regulatory, customer, and internal audits. Investigate sanitation-related deviations and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Support environmental monitoring and allergen management programs. Operational Excellence Partner with Operations to maximize production uptime while maintaining uncompromising sanitation standards. Develop and monitor sanitation KPIs including: Master Sanitation Schedule compliance Pre-operational pass rates ATP performance Environmental monitoring results Chemical and water utilization Labor productivity Audit performance Lead continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean Manufacturing and root cause problem-solving methodologies. Identify opportunities to improve sanitation effectiveness while reducing cost and improving operational performance. QualificationsRequired Minimum 5 years of sanitation leadership experience in a food manufacturing environment. Demonstrated experience leading sanitation teams in a high-volume food manufacturing facility. Strong working knowledge of FDA, USDA, SQF, GMP, HACCP, SSOPs, environmental monitoring, allergen control, and sanitation validation. Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence without direct authority. Excellent communication, leadership, coaching, and organizational skills. Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis capabilities. Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as business needs require. Preferred Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field. Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) certification. HACCP certification. SQF Practitioner certification. Lean Six Sigma certification. AIB, NPIC, or equivalent sanitation certification. Experience with automated sanitation systems, CIP/COP systems, ATP verification, and environmental monitoring programs. Bilingual (English/Spanish).
