POSITION SUMMARY US
Baking Operations is seeking an experienced and results-driven Production Manager to lead daily bakery production operations. This role is responsible for ensuring the efficient production of high-quality baked goods while maintaining compliance with food safety, quality, and operational standards. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can drive performance, develop teams, improve processes, and ensure products are produced safely, efficiently, and on time. The successful candidate will foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement while supporting company goals related to safety, quality, productivity, and employee engagement.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee daily bakery production operations to ensure production goals, quality standards, and customer requirements are met. Ensure the production of high-volume baked goods in accordance with company standards and production schedules. Maintain compliance with all food safety, quality, SQF, GMP, HACCP, OSHA, and regulatory requirements. Monitor production activities and make operational decisions to address quality, efficiency, staffing, or production challenges. Ensure adequate availability of raw materials and production supplies. Monitor production KPIs, analyze performance data, and implement corrective actions as needed. Lead process improvement initiatives to increase productivity, reduce waste, and improve overall operational performance. Develop, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures and best practices. Conduct routine inspections to verify product quality standards are consistently achieved. Manage and support production supervisors and team leaders through coaching, mentoring, and performance management. Promote a positive, collaborative, and safety-focused work environment. Manage staffing levels, scheduling, employee performance, and workforce allocation. Conduct employee training and development programs to support operational excellence and succession planning. Address employee relations matters, performance concerns, and disciplinary actions in accordance with company policies. Partner with Quality Assurance, Maintenance, and other departments to achieve operational objectives and continuous improvement goals. Complete departmental documentation and maintain accurate records related to production, quality, safety, and employee performance. Perform other duties as assigned by management.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrate strategic interactions with other departments. Clear understanding of P&L impact. Proven management and leadership skills with ability to hold the team accountable to KPIs. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Food Science, or a related field preferred. Equivalent combination of education and relevant manufacturing experience will be considered. Minimum of five (5) years of leadership experience in food manufacturing, bakery production, or a high-volume manufacturing environment. Experience managing production teams and supervisors. Food manufacturing experience required; bakery experience strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of GMP, HACCP, SQF, OSHA, and food safety regulations. Proven ability to manage production schedules, labor efficiency, quality, and productivity. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and production performance metrics. Understanding of operational costs, labor management, waste reduction, and P&L impact. Experience with ERP systems and production planning software preferred. Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate, train, develop, and hold employees accountable. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Required Skills and Abilities Strong leadership and team development skills.
