Job Description

Production Manager James Monroe Wire & Cable Corporation A US manufacturer of insulated wire and cable products. The James Monroe Wire and Cable Corporation is manufacturer of custom electrical and electronic cable with two plants located in central Massachusetts. The corporation was established in 1977 and nearly 50yrs later JMWC products support a wide range of power, control and communications applications for many industries across North America. Position Summary The JMWC Production Manager is responsible for oversight and management of all production processes including extrusion, twisting, cabling, braiding, striping, etc. as directed by Plant Manager. The Production Manager ensures safe, efficient, and compliant operations while meeting quality, delivery, and efficiency objectives. Providing leadership to department supervisors, foreman, machine operators and other production staff and to drive quality & safety initiatives as well as process development and improvements to ensure adherence to regulatory and customer requirements. Essential Functions Reports to Plant Manager Lead, coach, and assist supervisors, foreman and operators as directed by Plant Manager. Issue manufacturing work orders and special instructions to supervisors, foreman and operators as necessary. Work closely with Production Scheduler to ensure efficient utilization of machine time. Advise the Plant Manager of staffing level, scheduling, training, and cross-training needs. Foster a culture of safety, quality, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Direct daily extrusion operations to meet production schedules and customer delivery requirements. Monitor production performance, equipment utilization, scrap rates, and labor efficiency. Work with Quality Control Department to drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for production issues to maintain the highest product quality. Ensure effective communication across shifts and departments. Collaborate with Engineering and Maintenance to optimize extrusion processes and equipment performance. Support preventive maintenance programs and equipment upgrades. Participate in new product introductions and development. Communicate any recommended or necessary process changes to ensure work instructions remain current and effective. Identify and report areas of potential risk and opportunity that could impact the production department performance. Immediately report unsafe conditions/behaviors and work-related injuries to site supervision. Qualifications 5+ years of wire and cable manufacturing supervisory experience. 3+ years supervising department foreman and production teams. Experience in round, flat and profile cable jacket extrusions strongly preferred. Knowledge of thermoplastic extrusion processes, including co-extrusion and tight-tolerance products preferred. Knowledge and experience with extrusion equipment, relative tooling, ancillary equipment, raw materials and process controls. Strong leadership and team-building skills. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Effective communication and conflict resolution skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Results-oriented with a strong focus on customer satisfaction. Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and production planning. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and manufacturing reporting systems.

$45.00 - $65.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 - 50.0 per week
