We are seeking a Hands-On CNC Router Manufacturing Manager to lead day-to-day operations in a fast-paced, custom manufacturing environment. This is a highly visible leadership role for someone who knows CNC routing, understands job-shop production, and takes pride in building a shop culture centered on accountability, quality, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement. This is not a desk-only management job. The right person will be active on the floor, close to the work, and capable of helping the team solve real production challenges in real time. What You'll Do As the Manufacturing Manager, you will lead CNC router operations, manage production flow, support programming and process optimization, and help the team deliver high-quality parts and assemblies on time. You will be responsible for creating structure, improving throughput, reducing downtime, and making sure the shop runs with discipline, urgency, and pride. Key Responsibilities Lead the Shop Floor Manage daily CNC router shop operations, including operators, technicians, workflow, equipment utilization, and material movement. Set clear expectations for safety, quality, productivity, housekeeping, and accountability. Resolve production bottlenecks, machine issues, personnel challenges, and scheduling conflicts as they arise. Conduct team huddles, coach employees, and help develop a stronger, more capable shop team. Maintain a hands-on leadership presence in the manufacturing environment. Own Production Scheduling and Execution Build, manage, and communicate production schedules based on machine capacity, staffing, materials, and customer commitments. Coordinate with sales, engineering, purchasing, and quality to ensure new work is properly planned and released. Balance rush orders, custom jobs, and standard workflow without losing control of throughput. Track work-in-process, monitor job status, and report production updates to leadership. Anticipate capacity constraints and make proactive adjustments to protect on-time delivery. Improve Processes and Performance Identify opportunities to reduce scrap, rework, downtime, cycle time, and production cost. Apply lean manufacturing, 5S, and structured problem-solving methods to improve shop performance. Partner with engineering and production personnel to optimize CNC toolpaths, feeds and speeds, fixturing, and material usage. Standardize best practices and document repeatable work procedures. Establish and track key shop performance metrics. Champion Quality Support and maintain a quality-focused manufacturing culture. Ensure work meets customer requirements, dimensional accuracy standards, surface finish expectations, and workmanship standards. Partner with quality personnel on non-conformances, corrective actions, audits, and documentation. Promote a first-pass-quality mindset across the team. Maintain accurate production and quality records. What We're Looking For 5+ years of manufacturing experience, ideally in a CNC, custom fabrication, job-shop, or precision production environment. 2+ years of supervisory, lead, or management experience in a shop-floor setting. Strong understanding of CNC router operations, programming, tooling, fixturing, feeds and speeds, and material flow. Must be proficient with Mastercam. Experience creating, managing, and adjusting production schedules in a custom manufacturing environment. Proven ability to lead people, hold teams accountable, and create structure on the shop floor. Experience driving measurable process improvements through lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, 5S, or similar methods. Working knowledge of quality systems, non-conformance handling, and corrective action processes. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, CAD files, work instructions, and job specifications.
