This role is designed to relieve the Plant Manager of day-to-day supervisory issues (discipline, scheduling, coordination) while developing the skills necessary to support equipment performance and plant operations.
This is a hands-on leadership role with a strong learning component. Our manufacturing processes (PEX A & B extrusion and fittings) are specialized, and no candidate is expected to know them on day one. We are looking for someone with strong supervisory instincts and mechanical aptitude who can grow into the role. Key ResponsibilitiesSupervision & Workforce Management Serve as the primary point of support for production supervisors Handle day-to-day questions related to: Employee discipline and attendance Shift coverage and scheduling adjustments Workplace issues and conflict resolution Reinforce company policies and ensure consistent application across shifts Partner with HR on documentation, coaching, and corrective actions Operational Support Assist in coordinating daily production activities across shifts Monitor workflow and help remove bottlenecks Ensure proper staffing alignment with production needs Support communication between shifts and departments Equipment & Process Awareness Learn plant equipment, processes, and production flow over time Work alongside maintenance and operations teams to understand: Extrusion lines Material handling systems Basic troubleshooting processes Gradually take on responsibility for identifying and escalating equipment issues Support initiatives to improve uptime and efficiency Safety & Compliance Promote and enforce a strong safety culture Participate in safety meetings, audits, and incident reviews Ensure adherence to company safety policies and OSHA standards QualificationsRequired Supervisory or management experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment Strong leadership and decision-making skills Ability to manage people, resolve issues, and maintain accountability Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn equipment and processes Strong communication and organizational skills Preferred Experience in manufacturing environments (plastics, extrusion, or similar) Exposure to maintenance or equipment troubleshooting Familiarity with scheduling in multi-shift operations What We're Looking For A problem solver who can take ownership of issues without constant direction A people leader who can support supervisors and hold employees accountable A hands-on learner who is comfortable in a fast-paced manufacturing environment Someone who can free up the Plant Manager to focus on equipment performance and long-term improvements Why This Role Matters This position is critical to improving plant performance.
