Plant Manager

Job Description

Position Summary We are seeking a hands-on Plant Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of Carolina Apparel Group, a cut-and-sew manufacturing facility in Wadesboro, North Carolina. This role is responsible for production performance, workforce leadership, quality, scheduling, safety, inventory, cost control, and continuous improvement. The Plant Manager should be comfortable working directly on the production floor with supervisors and employees to improve efficiency, solve problems, and ensure customer orders are completed on time with first quality. Experience in cut-and-sew apparel, sewn products, textiles, or another labor-intensive manufacturing environment is preferred . Candidates with strong manufacturing leadership, process improvement, or industrial engineering experience are encouraged to apply. Key Responsibilities Lead daily plant operations from incoming materials through finished goods. Manage plant employees, including hiring, training, scheduling, performance evaluations, and employee development. Coordinate production schedules, labor, equipment, materials, and inventory to meet customer and shipment requirements. Monitor production output, labor efficiency, quality, staffing, costs, and schedule performance. Identify bottlenecks and workflow issues and implement corrective actions. Lead continuous improvement efforts focused on productivity, quality, material flow, workplace organization, and labor efficiency. Maintain a willingness to accept, support, and implement appropriate changes as operational needs evolve. Maintain a safe workplace and ensure compliance with applicable OSHA, SDS/MSDS, and facility inspection requirements. Stay current with relevant industry trends, manufacturing technologies, equipment, and production methods that may improve plant performance. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in textile engineering, manufacturing management, industrial engineering, or a related field preferred. 5+ years of manufacturing leadership or production experience preferred. Previous Plant Manager, Production Manager, Operations Manager, Manufacturing Manager, or similar experience preferred. Apparel, sewn products, textile, or other labor-intensive manufacturing experience is a plus. Engineering, industrial engineering, Lean manufacturing, or process improvement experience is highly desirable. Working knowledge of OSHA and
SDS/MSDS
requirements. Familiarity with garment construction, pattern development, or CAD/pattern-generation software will be needed. Strong leadership, communication, organizational, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills. Comfortable using production data, KPIs, and Microsoft Excel to support decision-making. We are looking for someone who can understand how work is actually being performed, identify opportunities for improvement, develop supervisors and employees, and create a disciplined manufacturing environment focused on safety, quality, productivity, cost control, and on-time delivery. Position Type Full-time, on-site position in Wadesboro, North Carolina.
Pay:
$55,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
