Reports directly to the Plant Manager The Plant Superintendent supports the Plant Manager and provides strong leadership and direction the the plant in all areas of responsibility including production, processing, packaging, warehousing and purchasing. Supports the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Safe Quality Food (SQF). Promote team management and employee morale. Job Summary Assist the Plant Manager with the direction of the manufacturing facilities of the plant to ensure customer orders are received, scheduled, produced and shipped at the lowest possible cost the meet the customer's requirements while maintaining corporate established quality standards. Responsible for expense control, including shrink, labor and overhead costs in all areas of the plant. Ensure that appropriate standard and operating procedures (SOP's), (SSOP's) are developed and maintained for all aspects of the business. Implement plant safety programs and ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's). Responsible for all corporate, customer and government audits to ensure compliance. Responsible for environmental compliance. Responsible for staffing levels, employee performance evaluations and discipline. Responsible for the overall succession planning of plant supervision staff and their development. For those facilities with collective bargaining agreement, additional responsibilities will include assisting in contract negotiations, grievances and arbitration's and aspects of contract management. Perform the Plant Manager's duties in Plant Manager's absence. Any other duties as assigned. Core Responsibilities Leadership and problem-solving skills. Strong organizational and communications skills. Must be a team player with the ability to plan and execute operational activities. Knowledge of dairy plant operations including HTST, CIP, and fillers. Be self-motivated and well organized. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Supervisory Responsibilities Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the companies policies, OSHA regulations, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning and directing work. Some duties also include appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Education High School Diploma or equivalent required Associate or Bachelor Degree in food processing field or business management preferred
