Avatar Natural Foods is a growing food manufacturing company dedicated to producing high-quality products while maintaining high standards of food safety, quality, and operational excellence. We are looking for an experienced and organized Assistant Plant Manager to support the daily operations of our food manufacturing facility. This position is ideal for someone with a strong understanding of food production, operational efficiency, and plant processes who enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. > Position Summary The Assistant Plant Manager supports the Plant Manager in coordinating and monitoring daily operations of the food manufacturing facility, with a primary focus on production, operational efficiency, production planning, food safety, and overall plant organization. This position monitors production performance, identifies operational needs and issues, supports process improvements, and helps ensure that production schedules, product requirements, and company standards are consistently met. > Essential Responsibilities 1. Operations and Production Monitor daily production and plant operations to ensure established schedules and production requirements are met. Monitor production processes, workflow, and operational performance. Track productivity, efficiency, waste, scrap, rework, and downtime. Monitor production goals and performance indicators. Identify production issues, delays, bottlenecks, and deviations and communicate them promptly to the Plant Manager. Support process improvements designed to increase efficiency, productivity, and consistency. Monitor the flow of materials and products through production areas. Monitor the availability of raw materials and production supplies in coordination with the appropriate departments. Assist with production planning and schedule adjustments based on operational needs. 2. Food Safety and GMP Maintain working knowledge of FDA, OSHA/Cal-OSHA, SQF, GMP, and applicable food manufacturing requirements. Monitor compliance with GMP and food safety procedures within production operations. Support the implementation and maintenance of food safety and quality standards. Monitor required production and food safety records for completeness and accuracy. Participate in internal, external, customer, and regulatory audits as required. Assist with audit preparation, inspections, and operational follow-up. Follow up on operational requirements and corrective actions identified during audits. 3. Plant Planning and Organization Manage and maintain the plant's operational calendar. Coordinate plant meetings, appointments, activities, and operational events. Coordinate customer, vendor, and visitor schedules as needed. Assist with customer visits and plant tours. Track customer operational commitments, deadlines, and production-related requirements. Coordinate the preparation and shipment of product samples. Track sample requests, specifications, quantities, and deadlines. Coordinate sample requirements with Production and Quality. 4. Performance and Operational Efficiency Monitor production KPIs and operational reports. Review productivity, waste, scrap, downtime, and efficiency trends. Identify opportunities to reduce waste and improve operational performance. Support continuous improvement initiatives within production operations. Follow up on operational changes and process improvements to ensure implementation. 5. Operational Communication Maintain regular communication with the Plant Manager regarding production performance and operational needs. Promptly communicate production deviations, delays, capacity issues, and other operational concerns. Coordinate operational information between Production, Quality, Food Safety, Warehouse, Packaging, and other departments as needed. Ensure production-related information is communicated clearly and in a timely manner. > Qualifications Required Experience in food manufacturing, production, or a similar manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of food production processes and manufacturing operations. Working knowledge of GMP and food safety requirements. Working knowledge of FDA, OSHA/Cal-OSHA, and SQF requirements. Understanding of production indicators, productivity, waste, efficiency, and downtime. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities and operational deadlines. Ability to analyze production information and identify operational needs. Strong communication and coordination skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace. > Preferred Experience with production planning and scheduling. Experience monitoring KPIs and continuous improvement initiatives. Experience in food manufacturing and packaging operations. Bilingual English/Spanish skills. > Work Environment Work is performed primarily within a food manufacturing facility and production environment. Frequent presence on the production floor is required. Must follow company PPE, GMP, food safety, and sanitation requirements. May require flexibility to work different schedules, weekends, or holidays based on operational needs.
Pay:
$80,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
