Full Job Description Assistant Plant Manager Reports To:
Plant Manager Position Summary We are seeking a highly capable and experienced Assistant Plant Manager to support operations at our small-scale vitamin and nutraceutical manufacturing facility. This role is critical to ensuring efficient production, strict regulatory compliance, and consistent product quality. The ideal candidate brings hands-on technical expertise, strong leadership ability, and a deep understanding of cGMP-regulated manufacturing environments. Key Responsibilities Develop, implement, and maintain daily and weekly production schedules to meet demand while optimizing efficiency and minimizing downtime Supervise and manage production staff, ensuring productivity, accountability, and adherence to company standards Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair manufacturing and packaging equipment to ensure continuous operation Oversee all aspects of batch production, including batch records, formulation accuracy, and reconciliation processes Ensure all production activities comply with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and internal quality standards Coordinate cross-functionally with quality, warehousing, and logistics teams to support seamless operations Monitor and improve workflow processes to increase throughput and reduce waste Maintain accurate documentation and ensure audit readiness at all times Interface directly with regulatory agencies and inspectors, including
FDA, USDA
Organic, and cGMP auditors Assist in training and developing staff to build a high-performing production team Qualifications Minimum 3-5 years of experience in vitamin, dietary supplement, or nutraceutical manufacturing Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a production environment Hands-on experience with encapsulation machines, powder mixers, packaging lines, and labeling equipment Strong working knowledge of cGMP regulations and regulatory compliance requirements Experience interacting with regulatory agencies such as FDA and USDA Organic certification bodies Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and repair production equipment Skilled in electrical troubleshooting, with the ability to diagnose and repair equipment issues efficiently Resourceful, solution-oriented, and capable of independently resolving operational and equipment challenges Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Strong communication and leadership skills Preferred Qualifications Background in food science, chemistry, engineering, or a related field Experience in small to mid-sized manufacturing environments Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience Compensation & Benefits Salary range: $80,000
