Job Description

Job Summary:
The Production Manager will be responsible for overseeing all daily operations of the plant from production and manufacturing to ensuring policies and procedures are followed. This role will need to ensure that production deadlines are met while providing excellent customer service for customers and leadership to the plant team members. This position is required to have the key skills to execute lean manufacturing principles, maximize profitable growth, develop a technically qualified workforce, and reduce operating cost and inventories. This role will need to continuously ensure plant improvements while ensuring a quality product and timely delivery to customers.
Essential Functions:
Plan, organize, direct and run day-to-day operations to ensure that all labor, materials, and machinery are fully utilized over all shifts Share technical skills and knowledge by being a hands-on manager Promote a good work environment by promoting good communication and cooperation, maintaining positive habits and attitude as well as creating an environment that fosters an open-door policy Recruit, interview, hire, and train production staff. Responsibilities include hiring, training, evaluation, coaching, discipline and termination of production employees to ensure that an adequate production team is in place to successfully accomplish the tasks required Ensure cross training of all team members across all job functions to allow for flexing of employees to optimize the effectiveness of the entire team Maintain a safe working environment as well as trained, safe employees through constant monitoring of unsafe conditions and behaviors - Directly accountable for safety program Establish realistic and challenging production rates and communicate to operators. Monitor daily production performance and prepare and maintain production reports to ensure effective return on assets Maintain and ensure a routine preventative maintenance plan for all equipment Create production shifts that optimally utilize labor and capacity. Respond to seasonality issues by adjusting human resources or shifts accordingly. Responsible for production output, product quality and on-time shipping. Monitor quality standards of products Ensure efficient collaboration and coordination between relevant departments including procurement, distribution and management.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
5+ years' experience in production management in a high output, multi-shift industrial/manufacturing environment with 3 years of supervisory experience preferred Extensive knowledge in lean manufacturing A proven track record of developing a skilled workforce Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word Ability to create accountability and to lead by example Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills
Education:
Bachelor's Degree is preferred

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position for 50% or more of the time. This position will require eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment. The person in this position must be aware of their surroundings at all times and be able to quickly recognize and identify potentially dangerous situations that need addressed in the shop. While in the shop, company safety requirements must be closely followed.
