Job Description
Plant Operations Manager Steel Warehouse - Jefferson City, TN Steel Warehouse is seeking a driven, hands-on Operations Manager to lead our Jefferson City manufacturing facility. This position is responsible for the daily operations of our laser processing and material handling departments, ensuring safety, quality, productivity, and employee development while driving a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. We are looking for a leader who enjoys being on the production floor, developing people, solving problems, and building high-performing teams. Experience with industrial laser processing is highly preferred. What You'll Do
- Lead and develop supervisors and production employees across multiple departments
- Develop a 2nd shift to accommodate sales growth
- Foster a culture focused on safety, accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence
- Drive production performance by monitoring key metrics including productivity, quality, scrap, downtime, and labor efficiency
- Coordinate daily production schedules to meet customer expectations and delivery commitments
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement lean manufacturing initiatives
- Coach leaders on performance management, employee development, and effective communication
- Partner with Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, Scheduling, Sales, and HR to achieve operational goals
- Utilize structured problem-solving methods to investigate production issues, identify root causes, and implement long-term effective corrective actions
- Maintain high standards for housekeeping, organization, and equipment care
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, safety regulations, and quality standards What We're Looking For Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of manufacturing leadership experience
- Proven experience leading supervisors and production teams
- Strong leadership, coaching, and employee development skills
- Experience managing production schedules, labor planning, and operational performance
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Highly Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating or managing industrial laser processing equipment (Mitsubishi, Bystronic, Trumpf, Mazak, or similar)
- Experience in steel processing, metals manufacturing, fabrication, or service center operations
- Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience
