Job Description

The Production Manager is primarily responsible for overseeing all factory operations and maintenance teams. Manage all aspects of plant operations to ensure on-time delivery of quality products while minimizing cost, inventory and waste; while also maintaining a high level of operating availability for plant equipment. Devise and implement any changes to assure production capacity is maximized via equipment and personnel coverage and down-time is minimized. Under the direction of the President, the Production Manager will provide leadership, business focus, education and training, culture building, and resource management in a team-lead based environment. They will work closely with management, engineering, R&D, and quality resources to manufacture existing products, develop and manufacture new products, continually improve safety, quality process/working conditions, and equipment while keeping waste to a minimum.

The Production Manager also ensures effective employee relations, to include all aspects of performance management, investigations, and problem resolution. The manufacturing plant operates 3 shifts Monday-Friday, as well as weekend shifts. The Production Manager will be required to tailor their schedule daily and/or weekly, as mutually agreed on with the President, to ensure proper oversight during all shifts.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Responsible for overseeing production operations on all shifts. Assist HR in interviewing applicants and make hiring, termination & promotion recommendations. Ensure machine outputs are maintained. Maintain a system to ensure raw materials are always available to production workers. Determine if overtime is necessary to meet shipment deadlines. Plan, organize and control production activities to ensure efficient operations and on-time delivery. Develop and maintain production schedules, adjusting as needed to meet customer demands and production goals. Monitor production standards and performance metrics including output, downtime, scrap, and efficiency. Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies & procedures and quality standards. Supervise, coach, and develop production staff; provide direction, training and performance feedback. Collaborate with maintenance, quality, engineering, and supply chain teams to optimize production processes. Manage inventory of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods. Implement continuous improvement practices to reduce waste and increase productivity. Prepare and present regular production reports to management. Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in a timely manner. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Operations, Facilities Engineering or related field required. 5+ years of progressively responsible work experience in a continuous manufacturing environment required. Strong leadership, management, and supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment required. Critical thinking, with innovative solutions required. Communication skills of the highest nature are necessary to effectively deal with barriers to growth and change that may exist currently. Strong leadership and team management skills. Knowledge (current and to be learned) of manufacturing processes, equipment, and best practices. Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills. Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies is a plus.
