Manufacturing Production Manager -
Steel Manufacturing Pay:
$85,000 / year

Manufacturing Steel Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Production Manager with a strong background in steel manufacturing, metal fabrication, or heavy industrial production . This position is responsible for overseeing daily production operations, managing production employees and supervisors, maintaining safety and quality standards, and ensuring production goals are achieved efficiently and on schedule. The ideal candidate will have hands-on knowledge of steel manufacturing processes and proven experience leading teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities Manage and oversee daily steel manufacturing and production operations. Lead, train, coach, and hold production employees accountable for performance, attendance, safety, and quality. Develop and maintain production schedules to meet customer deadlines and production targets. Monitor production output, downtime, scrap, labor utilization, and overall efficiency. Coordinate manpower and equipment based on production requirements. Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements and company safety policies. Enforce proper use of PPE and safe operating procedures. Monitor product quality and ensure work meets customer specifications and internal standards. Identify production bottlenecks and implement process improvements. Work closely with Maintenance, Quality, Warehouse, Shipping, and other departments. Investigate production issues and implement corrective actions. Maintain accurate production, staffing, downtime, and performance reports. Promote a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Qualifications 3-5+ years of manufacturing leadership experience , preferably within steel manufacturing, metal fabrication, structural steel, or another heavy industrial environment. Previous experience managing production employees, leads, and/or supervisors. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production scheduling, quality control, and workplace safety. Knowledge of steel fabrication equipment and processes such as cutting, forming, welding, machining, material handling, or similar operations preferred. Ability to read and understand production schedules, work orders, drawings, and manufacturing specifications. Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Experience with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Continuous Improvement, or similar methodologies preferred. Basic computer proficiency and experience with manufacturing/ERP systems preferred. High school diploma or GED required; associate's or bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or a related field preferred. Physical & Work Environment Requirements Ability to work in an industrial steel manufacturing environment. Ability to stand and walk throughout the production floor for extended periods. Must be comfortable working around heavy machinery, steel products, forklifts, welding operations, and industrial equipment. Ability to wear required PPE and follow all plant safety requirements. Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, or alternate shifts when production needs require. Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will be a hands-on production leader who is comfortable spending time on the manufacturing floor, developing employees, resolving production issues, and driving results. They should understand the demands of steel manufacturing and be able to balance safety, quality, productivity, labor efficiency, and on-time delivery .
