Job Description
Our client is seeking a strategic and hands-on Manufacturing Learning & Development Manager to lead workforce capability initiatives that directly impact operational performance, employee development, and organizational readiness. This is an exciting opportunity for a manufacturing professional who is passionate about developing people, strengthening frontline leadership, and building scalable training programs that support business growth. As a key member of the operations and leadership team, the Manufacturing Learning & Development Manager will partner closely with manufacturing leaders to identify workforce capability gaps, implement effective development strategies, and establish standardized training and qualification processes across multiple locations. This role will play a critical part in ensuring employees have the technical skills, leadership capabilities, and operational knowledge needed to drive performance, quality, safety, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will have a strong manufacturing background combined with expertise in workforce development, technical training, operational excellence, and leadership coaching. Key Responsibilities Workforce Capability & Training Programs Partner with manufacturing leadership to identify workforce capability gaps and develop solutions that improve operational performance. Design, implement, and continuously improve onboarding, qualification, certification, and cross-training programs. Develop structured learning pathways that accelerate employee development and readiness. Establish and maintain workforce qualification standards across multiple manufacturing locations. Ensure training programs align with operational goals, quality standards, safety requirements, and business objectives. Leadership Development Coach frontline leaders and supervisors to strengthen leadership effectiveness, communication, accountability, and team performance. Support the development of leadership skills that drive employee engagement, productivity, and operational excellence. Facilitate leadership training programs and workshops focused on performance management, problem-solving, coaching, and continuous improvement. Team Leadership Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Technical Learning Coordinators across multiple manufacturing locations. Provide direction, coaching, and support to ensure consistent execution of learning and development initiatives. Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth throughout the organization. Standardization & Continuous Improvement Standardize workforce capability, certification, and qualification processes company-wide. Develop metrics and reporting to measure training effectiveness, employee readiness, and workforce performance. Identify opportunities to improve training systems, processes, and employee development programs. Support operational readiness initiatives for new processes, equipment, products, and facility expansions. Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner closely with Operations, Quality, Safety, Industrial Engineering, Continuous Improvement, and Human Resources teams. Ensure workforce development programs support operational excellence and business performance objectives. Collaborate on continuous improvement initiatives designed to enhance productivity, quality, safety, and efficiency. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Operations, Industrial Engineering, Business, Organizational Leadership, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered. 7+ years of experience in manufacturing operations, technical training, workforce capability development, continuous improvement, operational excellence, or related areas. Experience coaching frontline leaders and supervisors within a manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, workforce development, and adult learning principles. Proven ability to develop and implement training, qualification, certification, and cross-training programs. Experience leading teams and influencing stakeholders across multiple functions and locations. Strong project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication, facilitation, and relationship-building abilities. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting multi-site manufacturing operations. Background in continuous improvement, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or operational excellence initiatives. Experience implementing training systems, skills matrices, competency models, or qualification frameworks. Proven success driving measurable improvements in workforce capability and operational performance.
