Job Description

Senior EHS Manager Southeastern Wisconsin Lead the Future of Safety, Operational Risk & Advanced Manufacturing This is not a traditional EHS leadership role. Our client is a global leader in industrial automation, robotics, motion control, and advanced manufacturing technologies serving some of the world's most innovative industries. As the organization continues a significant North American expansion, they are seeking a Senior EHS Manager to lead Environmental, Health, Safety, and Risk Management initiatives across a growing manufacturing enterprise. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Operations, this individual will serve as a strategic business partner responsible for helping shape the future of safety, operational excellence, automation deployment, workforce development, and manufacturing growth. This is an opportunity to join a financially strong organization investing heavily in advanced manufacturing, cutting-edge technology, automation, and long-term operational expansion while positioning yourself for future leadership growth. Why This Opportunity? This role offers far more than traditional EHS program management. You'll have the opportunity to: Report directly to executive leadership and serve as a trusted advisor to the Vice President of Operations. Influence strategy across Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, HR, and Operations teams. Lead EHS initiatives supporting a rapidly growing advanced manufacturing organization. Help guide the safe implementation of robotics, automation, autonomous vehicles, advanced material handling systems, and emerging manufacturing technologies. Build and strengthen a proactive safety culture through partnership, coaching, and influence. Play a visible, enterprise-wide leadership role supporting multiple sites across North America. Help define the future EHS organization, including organizational structure, staffing strategy, and long-term capability development. Position yourself for future advancement into Director-level leadership responsibilities. What Makes This Opportunity Different? Many EHS leadership positions focus primarily on compliance, reporting, and maintaining established programs. This role is different. You'll be joining an organization that views EHS as a strategic business function and expects this leader to actively contribute to operational success, manufacturing growth, risk reduction, technology deployment, and organizational development.
This position offers:
Executive-level visibility. Significant influence over operational decisions. Exposure to large-scale manufacturing expansion. Opportunities to shape future EHS strategy. The ability to build and develop a growing EHS organization. Meaningful interaction with customers, operations leaders, engineering teams, and manufacturing leadership. If you enjoy building programs, creating systems, solving complex business challenges, and influencing organizational direction, this is the type of opportunity where your impact will be highly visible.
The Opportunity:
The Senior EHS Manager will lead Environmental, Health, Safety, and Risk Management initiatives while serving as an influential member of the broader Operations leadership team. This individual will be responsible for maintaining regulatory compliance, developing safety strategy, evaluating operational risks, improving organizational performance, supporting future growth initiatives, and helping shape the long-term direction of the EHS function. Success in this role requires someone who can comfortably move between executive-level discussions, manufacturing operations, employee engagement, incident investigations, risk analysis, organizational development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic EHS Leadership Lead Environmental, Health, Safety, and Risk Management strategy across a multi-site manufacturing organization. Serve as a strategic advisor to executive and operational leadership regarding safety performance, compliance, and risk management. Develop long-term EHS strategies that support organizational growth and operational excellence. Utilize leading indicators, trend analysis, and proactive risk assessment methodologies to identify opportunities for improvement. Safety Program Development Develop, implement, and continuously improve EHS policies, systems, procedures, and programs. Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, corrective action planning, and risk mitigation efforts. Conduct hazard assessments and support organization-wide safety initiatives. Drive employee engagement and ownership in safety performance. Operational Risk & Future Manufacturing Support Support expansion initiatives involving automation, robotics, autonomous material handling systems, and advanced manufacturing technologies. Partner with Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, Facilities, and Quality teams to identify and mitigate emerging risks. Provide leadership on capital projects and future manufacturing initiatives. Environmental & Compliance Leadership Support environmental compliance initiatives and evolving regulatory requirements. Assist with sustainability efforts, environmental reporting, and customer compliance requests. Monitor emerging environmental regulations and industry trends. Organizational Development Help shape the future structure of the EHS organization. Identify staffing, resource, and capability needs as the business continues to grow. Mentor and develop future EHS talent. Serve as a trusted business partner throughout the organization.
Qualifications & Experience:
Required Bachelor's degree in Safety, Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, Environmental Science, Business, or a related discipline. 7+ years of progressive leadership experience within EHS, Manufacturing, Operations, Engineering, Quality, Facilities, or related industrial environments. Experience supporting manufacturing operations within a complex industrial setting. Strong understanding of workplace safety programs, incident investigations, root cause analysis, and regulatory compliance. Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders, lead change, and build organizational trust. Exceptional communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Preferred Multi-site EHS leadership experience. Experience supporting advanced manufacturing, robotics, automation, or highly engineered products. Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Six Sigma, or Operational Excellence experience. Experience building programs, systems, and organizational capabilities from the ground up. CSP, CIH, CHMM, or other related certifications. Who Will Excel Here? The strongest candidates are often leaders who started their careers in manufacturing, operations, engineering, quality, facilities, military leadership, or industrial management before moving into broader EHS leadership roles. You may be a strong fit if you: Think like a business partner rather than a compliance enforcer. Enjoy solving operational and organizational challenges. Have successfully built programs, systems, teams, and processes. Are comfortable supporting executive-level decision making. Thrive in fast-paced manufacturing environments. Balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution. Possess a strong sense of urgency and accountability. Want the opportunity to leave a lasting impact on a growing organization.
Multi-Site Responsibility & Travel:
This position supports a diverse manufacturing footprint and is ideal for a leader who enjoys engaging directly with operations. While the role will work closely with the organization's largest manufacturing operations, it also provides oversight and influence across multiple facilities supporting manufacturing, engineering, warehouse, service, and operational activities. Travel is generally moderate and consists primarily of visits to operational locations, leadership meetings, audits, assessments, and relationship-building activities. Most travel is expected to be domestic and can often be accomplished through short trips. The successful candidate will enjoy getting out from behind the desk and partnering directly with leaders and employees throughout the organization.
Compensation & Benefits:
The organization offers a highly competitive compensation and rewards package designed to attract and retain top-tier leadership talent.
Benefits include:
Competitive base salary commensurate with experience and leadership level. Significant annual performance-based bonus opportunity. Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage. Retirement savings programs. Paid vacation and holidays. Relocation assistance for qualified candidates. Long-term career advancement opportunities within a global manufacturing leader undergoing significant growth and expansion. Ready to Make an Impact? If you're an operations-oriented EHS leader who enjoys building programs, influencing organizational culture, improving business performance, and helping a world-class manufacturer navigate its next stage of growth, we'd welcome the opportunity to speak with you. Please note all resumes and candidate information submitted are kept in the strictest confidence. No resume will be released without the candidate's prior permission.
