Job Description
Plant Manager Position Summary The Plant Manager/Foreman will oversee CNC machining operations within a high-mix, tight-tolerance manufacturing job shop. This hands-on leadership position is responsible for ensuring strong performance in safety, quality, delivery, and cost while developing employees and meeting production objectives. The ideal candidate will have experience in plant management or senior manufacturing leadership, along with a strong background in precision grinding using both manual and CNC equipment. Experience working in a job shop environment and familiarity with ISO quality systems are highly preferred. Key Responsibilities Lead and supervise plant personnel to ensure safe, efficient, and productive daily operations. Review project requirements and develop production schedules that support both immediate and long-term objectives. Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, productivity, and throughput while maintaining quality standards. Manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Optimize staffing, scheduling, and capacity planning to improve workforce utilization and minimize unnecessary overtime. Monitor operating expenses, including materials, labor, maintenance, and other production-related costs. Establish performance expectations and hold team members accountable for meeting goals and responsibilities. Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and support to promote employee development and high performance. Identify production bottlenecks and develop solutions to improve workflow and reduce costs. Promote a culture focused on safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement. Ensure compliance with company safety standards and quality requirements. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business, Manufacturing, Operations, or a related field preferred. 5+ years of experience in CNC machining leadership or manufacturing supervision. Experience with precision grinding using both manual and CNC machinery. Previous plant management, operations management, or senior manufacturing leadership experience preferred. Experience in a high-mix, job shop manufacturing environment. Familiarity with ISO quality systems. Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and drive accountability. Effective project management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including identifying operational challenges and implementing cost-effective solutions. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong commitment to workplace safety. Proficiency with computer systems and software used for production planning, inventory management, and reporting.
