UFP Industries is looking for a hands-on Day Shift Treating Supervisor to lead production employees and support the safe, efficient operation of our treating department in Athens, Alabama. In this role, you will help lead daily treating operations, support employee training and development, manage production flow, and drive continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate is steady, organized, safety-focused, and comfortable leading people in a hands-on operation where communication, accountability, and attention to detail matter every day. What You'll Do As the Treating Supervisor, you will: Lead day shift employees in the treating department to meet safety, quality, production, inventory, and cost goals. Coach, train, motivate, and hold employees accountable for performance, safety, attendance, quality, and productivity. Support daily production planning, workflow, and communication across departments. Monitor production activity and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and employee performance. Ensure employees follow UFP policies, procedures, safety standards, and applicable regulatory requirements. Support safe and compliant hazardous material handling practices within the treating operation. Partner with maintenance, safety, quality, and plant leadership to resolve issues and keep operations running effectively. Lead and participate in safety initiatives, audits, JSA/JDA reviews, LOTO awareness, and continuous improvement efforts. Maintain accurate production records, reports, inventory details, and department documentation. Support preventative maintenance, standard work instructions, 5S, TPM, and other continuous improvement programs. Communicate expectations clearly with employees and leadership throughout the day. Assist with forklift operation or material movement as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. What You Bring 3 to 5 years of manufacturing experience. 1 to 3 years of experience leading, supervising, or training employees. Experience in lumber, wood products, treating, building materials, production, or industrial manufacturing preferred. Strong safety mindset and commitment to creating a safe work environment. Ability to lead employees with clear expectations, direct feedback, and consistent follow-through. Strong communication skills with the ability to explain priorities, ask good questions, and keep teams aligned. Strong attention to detail, especially around quality, production accuracy, inventory, and safety procedures. Ability to organize daily routines while staying flexible when production needs change. Working knowledge of continuous improvement concepts such as 5S, TPM, standard work, and preventative maintenance. Comfort working with production systems, email, reporting tools, and internal company resources. Ability to partner effectively with maintenance, quality, safety, and plant leadership. Forklift experience preferred; must be able to successfully complete the forklift driver licensing process.
