Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Paint Line to oversee and coordinate operations in the automotive paint department. This role is responsible for ensuring production targets are met, quality standards are upheld, and safety procedures are followed. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, deep technical knowledge of both processes, and a track record of improving manufacturing performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee day-to-day operations of the Paint Department. Lead a team of supervisors, technicians, and production associates. Manage production schedules to meet delivery timelines while optimizing labor and material usage. Ensure effective coordination and communication between paint and other departments (assembly, injection, quality, maintenance, logistics). Prepare and control the budget in Paint while meeting profitability by controlling labor and expenses. Ensure that paint finishes meet customer and regulatory quality standards. Monitor production processes to minimize defects, rework, and scrap. Implement and sustain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions. Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for issues in both areas. Maintain a safe work environment by enforcing company safety policies and OSHA regulations. Oversee proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials used in painting and molding operations. Ensure all employees are trained and compliant with safety protocols, PPE usage, and emergency procedures.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 5+ years of leadership experience in automotive paint operations. Strong knowledge of paint application systems (manual and robotic) and curing ovens. Familiarity with color changes and painting defect resolution. Proven track record of team leadership, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration. Understanding lean manufacturing principles, quality systems, and EHS standards. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, ERP systems, and production reporting tools. Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
Work Environment:
Manufacturing floor environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and various materials. Requires standing, bending, and lifting for extended periods. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Full-time, with potential for overtime based on production needs. Shifts may include days, evenings, or weekends.
