Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Steel Fabrication Shop Foreman to lead our fabrication team in delivering high-quality metal structures and components. In this role, you will oversee daily shop operations, coordinate fabrication activities, and ensure projects meet safety, quality, and production standards. Your mechanical expertise, leadership skills, and knowledge of welding and metal fabrication will drive efficiency and excellence in our manufacturing processes. This position offers an exciting opportunity to manage a skilled team within a fast-paced environment dedicated to precision and craftsmanship. Duties Supervise daily shop activities, ensuring all fabrication tasks are completed efficiently, safely, and according to project specifications Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients to interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication plans Lead the assembly of metal structures using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment (MIG, TIG, FCAW, SMAW), and machining tools Monitor quality control by inspecting materials and finished products using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and shop math calculations Enforce safety protocols rigorously to maintain a safe working environment in compliance with OSHA standards and ASME codes Train and mentor team members on proper welding techniques (including welding), use of measuring instruments, and fabrication best practices Manage inventory of metal materials, consumables, and shop tools to ensure smooth workflow and minimize delays Requirements Proven construction site experience with a strong understanding of construction processes and safety standards Extensive shop fabrication experience with metal materials including sheet metal, structural steel, and other alloys Proficiency in interpreting blueprints, mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication shop math Skilled in various welding techniques including MIG (Gas Metal Arc Welding), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), with adherence to AWS (American Welding Society) standards Ability to operate measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, measuring tapes; familiarity with plasma cutting, machining, assembly and use of power tools Mechanical knowledge related to fabrication shop equipment like plasma cutters, saws, drills, grinders and CNC machinery Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a team effectively while maintaining high safety standards Knowledge of ASME codes & standards for pressure vessels or piping is a plus Excellent communication skills combined with basic math skills necessary for precise measurements and calculations Join us if you're ready to lead a talented team in delivering top-tier steel fabrication projects!
