Job Description

SUMMARY The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing manufacturing processes by managing staff on the production floor and coordinating resources ensuring that all manufactured products meet and exceed standards of quality, reliability and performance. They must have the ability to strategically develop, maintain, delegate, follow up and complete projects on time and will be highly motivated to continuously seek ways to improve standards and processes by performing the following duties: This position will step in, in the absence of the Production Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform this job, an individual must be able to perform the following: Accomplishes manufacturing staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures. Maintains staff by orienting, and training employees, developing personal growth opportunities. Maintains workflow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments. Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries. Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards. Ensure operation of equipment by calling for repairs, evaluating new equipment and techniques. Provides manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data, answering questions and responding to requests. Creates and revises systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, and budgetary and personnel requirements, implementing change. Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources, maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures. Resolves personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Ensure compliance as it relates to USDA regulations, Raw and Finished Product Specifications, Corporate Policies and Procedures Establish quality procedures, standards, and specifications for production Remain current on all regulatory requirements and law changes Provide solid leadership & strong effective communication among direct team members and across department personnel Responsible for achievement of production department goals and objectives Support Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) program Ensure systems are in place to make certain that vendors are capable of meeting production expectations Responsibility for inspecting procedures, outputs and identifying mistakes or non-conformity issues in quality assurance and food safety Identify and ensure processes to reduce waste and maximize resources Ensure production processes are compliant with quality standards Seek continuous improvement on food safety and production program Collect, compile and analyze quality data to obtain information reading quality performance Monitor all operations that affect quality and food safety Review existing process and product specification to identify the need for improvement and upgrade Facilitate proactive solutions by analyzing quality data Prepare and present reports to update upper management on production activities Actively participate and implement the root cause assessment during daily incident report investigations, deviations of procedure, customer complaints, or any other noncompliance to finished goods, specification of raw material, or others. Must observe all safety rules and wear all safety equipment provided or required by the company Other duties may be assigned and subject to change in accordance with business needs
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to solve practical problems and to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
One year certificate from college or technical school; or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with Quality Systems and programs Ability and experience in successfully supervising and directing people and their work. Lead by example, jumping in when necessary to keep operation moving. Ability to motivate and lead employees Ability and willingness to communicate routine and urgent processing issues and needs to Leadership. Escalate issues as appropriate and in a timely fashion to ensure information is shared effectively Ability to think and act strategically with the capacity for growth in strategic thinking ability Must have knowledge of food safety programs (HACCP, GMPs, Sanitation, Pest Control) Ability to work independently; or as part of a team; has good reasoning abilities and demonstrates sound judgment Excellent organizational skills, with an ability to prioritize important projects Works well under pressure and meets tight deadlines Meticulous attention to detail Ability to adapt, troubleshoot, research solutions and make recommendations to improve work efficiencies
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and procedure manuals.
