A Machine Shop Supervisor supervises employees working in a machine shop, including CNC and PLC machining. Requires experience in machining and supervising other machinists. Monitors activities to ensure safety of workers and quality of products. Analyzes job scope and engineering part prints to determine information for finished machined parts. May train new machinists, develop training, work and safety procedures for the shop.
We are seeking an experienced and dependable Foreman Fabricator to lead our shop-floor fabrication team while actively contributing to production. This position is responsible for directing and supporting fabricators to ensure projects are completed safely, correctly, on budget, and on schedule . The ideal candidate is a skilled fabricator and welder who can read and interpret drawings, perform precise layout and fit-up, operate a variety of shop equipment, troubleshoot equipment issues, and effectively lead a team. The Foreman Fabricator is expected to set the standard for safety, quality, productivity, and workmanship .
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead, coordinate, and monitor fabrication team members to ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and on schedule. Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and productive shop environment. Review employee progress, workmanship, and adherence to safety requirements. Interpret and follow fabrication drawings, specifications, and written work instructions with minimal supervision. Perform hands-on fabrication, fitting, tacking, and welding using GMAW, GTAW, and FCAW processes. Set up and adjust welding equipment to consistently produce high-quality welds. Perform accurate layout and fit-up of complex assemblies to tolerances as tight as 1/64" . Operate equipment to include welders, forklifts, grinders, bevellers, magnetic drills, saws, hand tools, ladders, and precision measuring equipment. Troubleshoot, maintain, and perform basic repairs on shop machinery and supporting equipment. Assist with production planning, workflow improvements, and upcoming work. Communicate project status, production concerns, scheduling issues, equipment needs, and other issues to the Shop Supervisor. Help evaluate new fabrication employees for technical competency and overall fit. Provide feedback and participate in continuous improvement efforts related to manufacturing processes, quality, and efficiency. Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of the organization.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR 5
years' proven experience in metal fabrication and welding . Strong ability to read and interpret shop drawings and work instructions. Demonstrated proficiency with GMAW, GTAW, and FCAW welding processes. Strong layout, measurement, and fit-up skills. Ability to lead by example and hold team members accountable for safety, quality, and productivity . Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while effectively coordinating with others. Willingness to provide personal hand tools necessary to perform daily job duties.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to lift and handle up to 50 lbs. Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to climb ladders and safely work around shop equipment and materials. Ability to safely perform the physical demands of a fabrication shop environment.
