ductwork fabrication Siding installation Assembly Driver's License Building installation safety compliance Hand tools Delegation Roofing & siding installation Full Job Description Sheet Metal Foreman / Lead TechnicianOverview We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Sheet Metal Foreman / Lead Technician to oversee and lead sheet metal fabrication and installation projects for Sierra Mechanical Corporation, a commercial HVAC and sheet metal contractor with in-house CNC fabrication. This role offers the opportunity to manage skilled crews, ensure safety compliance, and deliver high-quality work on complex commercial and food-service projects — from the fab shop to final field installation. As a key leader on the job, you will coordinate with project managers, general contractors, and other trades to keep projects on schedule, on budget, and up to code. Your command of shop fabrication, plan and drawing interpretation, and crew supervision will drive each project's success from takeoff through completion. Duties Lead and supervise sheet metal fabrication and installation crews, managing daily operations in the shop and on commercial job sites to ensure timely, high-quality completion. Review construction plans, mechanical drawings, and shop drawings to interpret project requirements accurately, and perform material and labor takeoffs independently. Lay out, fabricate, and install commercial ductwork and sheet metal assemblies, maintaining SMACNA standards and California Mechanical Code (UMC) compliance throughout. Fabricate using plasma cutting, shears, brakes, rolls, CNC equipment, and other standard shop machinery. Perform and oversee kitchen hood and grease duct work for restaurant and food-service HVAC projects, ensuring proper construction and code compliance. Install sheet metal siding, wall panels, flashing, and capping, delivering clean, accurate architectural sheet metal work. Verify field dimensions, coordinate installation with other trades, and resolve field issues to keep the work moving. Enforce jobsite safety, quality control, and adherence to OSHA standards and company safety protocols to maintain a safe work environment. Track crew hours, material usage, and daily production; report progress to project management and flag schedule or budget risks early. Maintain documentation of work progress, field changes, and inspection items using Procore, Bluebeam, or equivalent tools. Assign tasks effectively, manage crew productivity, and train and mentor less-experienced technicians and helpers. Experience Proven experience in commercial or industrial sheet metal / HVAC construction, with a demonstrated foreman or lead track record and successful project delivery. Strong knowledge of kitchen hood systems, grease duct, and restaurant / food-service HVAC. Hands-on experience with sheet metal siding, capping, flashing, and architectural sheet metal. Proficiency in fabrication using plasma cutting and standard sheet metal shop equipment; CNC or fabrication software familiarity a plus. Ability to read plans, blueprints, and shop drawings and perform takeoffs independently. Working knowledge of SMACNA standards and the California Mechanical Code. Familiarity with project software such as Procore and Bluebeau for documentation, plan markup, and takeoffs (or equivalent). Hands-on experience with jobsite safety practices aligned with OSHA standards. Excellent communication and leadership skills for supervising crews and coordinating with project managers, general contractors, and other trades. Reliable transportation, valid CA driver's license, and ability to pass a background/drug screen. Own hand tools as customary for the trade.

Compensation:
