Structural Steel Shop Helper

KDM Steelworks, Inc. is a stair, rail, structural steel metals fabricator that has established an outstanding reputation for safety, quality, and productivity in the field of steel fabrication. We are located near the beautiful Rocky Mountains in the heart of Loveland Colorado. We are currently looking for experienced and dependable full-time shop helpers. The job of shop helper is an entry level position to the steel industry. With this position of shop helper, you would be moving material, grinding, drilling and following directions from the shop foreman. If you want to be a welder this is a great position to get started in. Our shop hours are from 6am to 4:45pm Monday through Thursday.

Job Requirements:

Education:

High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalent Must be over 18 with a valid driver's license.

Experience:

Use of hand tools, heavy machinery and overhead cranes

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

English communication (written & verbal) skills; Ability to receive/read instructions and implement specific instructions; Knowledge of basic cutting types - Band Saw, Torch, Plasma, and Shear; Standing for long periods of time, with the majority of the time spent in a machine and fabrication shop environment. Walking is required within the office and shop areas. This position also requires turning the head and torso, reaching, grasping, bending and flexing the arms, legs, wrists, fingers, use of eyes. Due to the responsibilities of production, must lift up to 75 lbs. Responsibilities and Duties Read and follow directions from Foreman. Able to move and lift material for fitters & welders. Able to use basic hand tools which include grinding, drilling and cutting. Ensure that product standards, both as to quality and quantity are met. Apply all safety measures when working in the shop and with welding machines/ hand tools. Maintain a positive attitude with all employees, vendors, and customers. Other tasks as requested by the Shop Foreman and other employees. We do not install or do any field work.
