Millwork Operations Manager The Millwork Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the millwork shop, including production planning, fabrication, personnel management, material procurement, quality control, scheduling, equipment, and coordination with project management and field installation teams. This position is responsible for ensuring custom architectural millwork, cabinetry, casework, trim, doors, panels, and related products are fabricated accurately, efficiently, safely, and in accordance with approved shop drawings, specifications, project schedules, and company quality standards. Key Responsibilities Manage daily millwork shop operations and production workflow. Plan and coordinate fabrication schedules based on project priorities, deadlines, and available manpower. Supervise carpenters, cabinetmakers, CNC operators, finishers, assemblers, and other shop personnel. Assign work and monitor productivity, workmanship, and completion dates. Review architectural drawings, shop drawings, specifications, cut lists, and fabrication details prior to production. Coordinate with estimators, project managers, designers, architects, and field supervisors to resolve production and constructability issues. Verify dimensions, materials, hardware, finishes, and fabrication requirements before work begins. Coordinate purchasing and maintain appropriate inventory levels for lumber, plywood, veneers, laminates, hardware, adhesives, finishes, and other materials. Monitor material usage and minimize waste, rework, and unnecessary production costs. Oversee CNC machinery, saws, edgebanders, planers, sanders, finishing equipment, and other shop machinery. Ensure equipment is properly maintained and coordinate repairs and preventative maintenance. Establish and enforce quality-control procedures throughout fabrication and prior to delivery. Inspect completed work for dimensional accuracy, finish quality, hardware operation, and compliance with approved drawings. Coordinate packaging, loading, delivery, and sequencing of completed millwork for field installation. Communicate production status, delays, material shortages, and potential schedule impacts to project management. Track shop labor hours and production performance against project budgets. Identify opportunities to improve fabrication methods, workflow, productivity, and profitability. Maintain an organized, clean, and safe shop environment. Enforce OSHA requirements and company safety procedures. Assist with hiring, training, evaluating, and developing shop personnel. Maintain accountability for production deadlines and overall shop performance. Qualifications Strong experience in architectural millwork, custom cabinetry, casework, or commercial woodworking. Previous experience managing or supervising a millwork or cabinet fabrication shop. Strong knowledge of woodworking materials, hardware, fabrication methods, finishing, and installation requirements. Ability to read and interpret architectural plans, millwork shop drawings, specifications, and detailed fabrication drawings. Knowledge of CNC-based manufacturing and modern millwork production equipment preferred. Strong production planning, scheduling, and personnel-management skills. Ability to identify constructability issues before fabrication. Understanding of labor productivity, material costs, waste control, and project budgets. Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities. Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining production deadlines and quality standards. Position Objective The primary objective of the Millwork Operations Manager is to maintain complete control of the shop production process, from approved drawings and material procurement through fabrication, quality control, and delivery - while ensuring projects are completed safely, accurately, on schedule, and within budget.

Pay:

$60,921.97 - $150,000.00 per year
