Job Description

Job Summary The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading daily production activities and ensuring the safe, efficient, and organized flow of materials through the galvanizing operation. This position provides hands-on leadership to the production team while working closely with the General Manager, other Supervisors, and Sales personnel to meet production schedules, maintain inventory accuracy, and ensure customer materials are handled properly. The Production Supervisor will oversee approximately 15 production employees and will be responsible for employee training, productivity, safety, material handling, inventory, and daily operational needs. This is a hands-on leadership position in a fast-paced industrial environment where priorities can change throughout the day. This position will require relocation to one of our plants in the Southeast following completion of the training period. Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Management, Engineering, Technology, Physical Sciences, or a related field preferred; equivalent supervisory experience and training will be considered. Minimum of 5 years of supervisory or management experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or production environment. Experience working in a steel, metal processing, galvanizing, or heavy industrial environment is preferred. Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and motivate a production team. Strong understanding of workplace safety and material-handling practices. Essential Job Functions Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Lead, supervise, and support a team of approximately 15 production employees. Direct daily production activities to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to schedule. Monitor production schedules and adjust priorities as needed to meet customer and operational requirements. Ensure proper material handling procedures are followed for both company-owned and customer-owned materials. Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and productive work environment throughout the production area and yard. Enforce company safety policies, procedures, and environmental requirements. Train, coach, and cross-train employees to improve flexibility, productivity, and overall team performance. Monitor employee attendance, hours worked, and time records; review and approve employee timecards. Ensure employees have the appropriate safety equipment, supplies, and tools needed to perform their jobs. Track and maintain accurate records of materials located throughout the facility. Assist with month-end inventory counts and reconciliation. Communicate regularly with the General Manager, other Supervisors, and Sales personnel regarding production, inventory, scheduling, and customer requirements. Identify and resolve production, personnel, material, and operational issues as they arise. Step in and assist with production or other operational duties when necessary. Promote teamwork, accountability, productivity, and continuous improvement throughout the operation. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management. Qualifications & Requirements Valid driver's license. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong leadership, decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical abilities. Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently while functioning effectively as part of a management team. Ability to work extended 10-hour shifts and remain on duty until production requirements are completed when necessary. Ability to work outdoors and in an industrial environment in varying weather conditions. Ability to occasionally lift and/or move materials weighing up to 100 pounds. Spanish/English bilingual skills preferred. Must be willing to relocate to another company facility in the Southeast following the completion of the training period. Work Environment This position is based in a heavy industrial production environment and requires regular interaction with production employees, equipment, materials, and outdoor yard operations. The Supervisor must be comfortable working in heat, cold, rain, and other weather conditions and must be willing to take a hands-on approach when operational needs require it. The ideal candidate is a hands-on manufacturing leader who can balance employee leadership, production demands, safety, inventory control, and customer requirements while maintaining a positive and accountable work environment.
