Job Description

Job Summary A well-established and growing food manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead daily manufacturing operations at a high-volume production facility in Tampa, Florida. This is a confidential search for a hands-on, results-oriented leader who can drive production performance while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, quality, employee safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance . The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing production teams in a bakery, food manufacturing, or similar high-volume manufacturing environment and will be comfortable balancing strategic leadership with hands-on operational management. Key Responsibilities Lead and oversee daily production operations to meet customer demand, production schedules, quality standards, and company objectives. Manage, coach, and develop production supervisors, leads, and hourly production employees. Establish clear performance expectations and hold teams accountable for safety, quality, productivity, attendance, and operational results. Monitor production schedules, labor requirements, yields, downtime, waste, and production efficiency. Identify opportunities to improve throughput, reduce waste, control labor costs, and optimize production processes. Partner with Maintenance, Quality, Warehouse, Sanitation, HR, and other departments to ensure seamless plant operations. Ensure compliance with company policies, food safety requirements, OSHA standards, GMPs, and applicable regulatory requirements. Support and maintain a strong food safety and quality culture throughout the production operation. Investigate production issues, equipment downtime, quality concerns, and employee performance issues and implement corrective actions. Utilize production metrics and KPIs to identify trends and drive continuous improvement. Participate in workforce planning, staffing, scheduling, training, and succession planning. Ensure employees are properly trained on equipment, processes, safety procedures, GMPs, and production standards. Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, communication, and continuous improvement. Assist with new product launches, equipment implementation, process improvements, and facility expansion initiatives. Maintain accurate production records and provide regular operational reporting to plant leadership. Support Lean Manufacturing, 5S, root-cause analysis, and other continuous improvement initiatives. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Operations, Food Science, Business, or a related field preferred. 5+ years of progressive production or manufacturing management experience. Experience in food manufacturing, bakery production, or a high-volume manufacturing environment strongly preferred. Demonstrated experience leading supervisors and large hourly production teams. Strong understanding of production planning, labor management, manufacturing KPIs, and cost control. Knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, food safety, OSHA, and quality standards. Experience with continuous improvement, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, or similar methodologies preferred. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven production environment. Strong computer skills and the ability to work with production reporting and ERP/MRP systems. Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional early mornings, evenings, weekends, or holidays as business needs require.
