Food / Bread Manufacturing Job Summary A growing bread manufacturing company in Atlanta, GA is seeking an experienced and hands-on Production Shift Supervisor to lead daily production operations. The Production Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing production employees, ensuring daily production goals are met, maintaining quality and food safety standards, and creating a positive and accountable work environment. This is a hands-on leadership position , with approximately 80% of the workday spent directly on the production floor coaching employees, monitoring operations, solving problems, and ensuring the shift runs safely and efficiently. Candidates with previous supervisory experience in bread production, commercial bakeries, food manufacturing, or high-volume production environments are strongly encouraged to apply. Key Responsibilities Supervise and coordinate production activities throughout the assigned shift. Lead, coach, train, and motivate production employees to meet daily production goals. Monitor productivity, quality, yield, efficiency, attendance, and employee performance. Ensure bread production meets established company standards for quality and completion time. Maintain a strong presence on the production floor and provide hands-on leadership to the team. Conduct shift huddles and communicate production expectations and priorities. Train and develop employees, including team members working in skilled production positions. Address employee performance concerns and assist with disciplinary actions when necessary. Assist with interviewing, selecting, onboarding, and training new employees. Promote teamwork, accountability, communication, and employee retention. Troubleshoot production challenges involving staffing, ingredients, equipment, workflow, and production schedules. Identify opportunities to increase efficiency, improve processes, and reduce production waste. Ensure compliance with GMPs, food safety, sanitation, Food Defense, and workplace safety requirements . Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production environment. Communicate with plant management and other departments to ensure production requirements and customer deadlines are met. Complete required production reports and paperwork accurately and on time. Qualifications Previous supervisory or leadership experience in food manufacturing, bread production, commercial bakery operations, or a similar manufacturing environment . Experience managing production employees in a fast-paced environment. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to coach employees, provide feedback, and hold team members accountable. Understanding of production efficiency, quality standards, and waste reduction. Knowledge of GMPs, food safety, sanitation, and manufacturing safety practices . Ability to make quick and effective decisions when production issues arise. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Must be dependable and comfortable working extended hours and weekends when production requires it. Physical & Work Environment Requirements This position is primarily performed on the production floor of a commercial bread manufacturing facility.
Candidates must be able to:
Stand and walk for extended periods. Work around industrial bakery machinery and equipment. Work in areas with elevated temperatures, including areas near ovens. Work in areas where flour dust may be present. Bend, reach, and move throughout the production area. Occasionally lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds . Schedule This is a full-time production leadership position. Operations may run 6-7 days per week , depending on production needs. Candidates must have flexible availability , including weekends, extended shifts, and occasional Sundays as required.
