First Shift Position Summary The Senior Team Lead is a hands-on production leadership role responsible for overseeing daily operations across all production departments at Iowa Powdercraft. This position provides day-to-day direction to team members while actively working alongside the team as needed to support production, quality, safety, and on-time delivery. The Senior Team Lead must develop a working knowledge of every production area, including blasting, racking, pretreatment, ovens, powder coating, inspection, and unracking/packaging. This individual will train new hires, maintain workflow between departments, address daily production issues, and communicate operational needs to the Operations Manager. Essential Responsibilities Lead, direct, and support approximately [10] employees during first-shift operations. Oversee workflow and staffing across blasting, racking, pretreatment, ovens, powder coating, inspection, and unracking/packaging. Work hands-on in any department as production volume, staffing needs, quality concerns, or operational priorities require. Learn and maintain practical proficiency in each stage of the powder-coating production process. Execute daily goals, monitor progress, and adjust labor priorities to maintain efficient workflow and meet production schedules. Train, coach, and onboard new team members on job responsibilities, work instructions, quality expectations, safety practices, and company procedures. Ensure employees follow established work instructions, quality standards, safety procedures, and ISO [9001] requirements. Monitor product quality throughout the process, identify defects or process issues, and coordinate timely corrective action. Maintain clear communication between departments to prevent bottlenecks, rework, missed deadlines, and incomplete orders. Support lean manufacturing and continuous-improvement efforts by identifying waste, improving workflow, standardizing processes, and helping implement practical solutions. Provide employee coaching and day-to-day performance feedback. Address attendance, conduct, performance, and policy concerns; document issues and participate in disciplinary action as directed by the Operations Manager. Provide input on hiring decisions, including candidate interviews, skills assessments, and onboarding needs. Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area throughout the facility. Communicate production status, staffing concerns, equipment issues, quality trends, and improvement opportunities to the Operations Manager. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing, production, industrial, or finishing environment required. Experience in powder coating, industrial finishing, metal fabrication, or a similar production setting strongly preferred. Familiarity with ISO [9001] quality-management systems and documentation requirements preferred. Lean manufacturing or continuous-improvement experience preferred. Demonstrated ability to lead by example, build accountability, and maintain a positive, productive team environment. Ability to prioritize work, make sound day-to-day decisions, and remain effective in a fast-paced production environment. Strong communication skills, including the ability to train employees, give clear direction, and communicate concerns professionally. Ability and willingness to learn, perform, and support all departments within the powder-coating process. Basic computer skills and the ability to complete production, quality, training, and employee-related documentation. Forklift experience or certification preferred. This person serves as a reliable connection between the production floor and the Operations Manager while setting the standard for teamwork, safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
