Grade Superintendent Job Summary Granite Excavation, Inc. is seeking an experienced Grade Foreman / Grader Operator to lead a grade crew and operate heavy equipment throughout the Treasure Valley. This working foreman position is responsible for coordinating daily crew activities, maintaining accurate grades, monitoring production, and ensuring projects are completed safely, correctly, and on schedule. Projects may include road construction, site preparation, excavation, building pads, drainage systems, access roads, and utility work. Primary Responsibilities Lead the grade crew and assign daily tasks. Review plans, elevations, schedules, and project requirements. Perform rough and finish grading using a motor grader. Operate dozers, loaders, excavators, compactors, and other equipment as needed. Use GPS, lasers, stakes, and grade-control systems to maintain proper elevations and slopes. Coordinate employees, equipment, materials, and jobsite needs. Monitor quality, production, drainage, and compaction. Train employees and provide clear work instructions. Communicate project progress or concerns with supervisors. Conduct safety meetings and enforce company safety policies. Complete daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs. Work with customers, inspectors, vendors, and subcontractors as needed. Qualifications Previous motor grader experience in civil or road construction. Previous foreman, lead, or crew-supervision experience. Knowledge of rough grading, finish grading, elevations, slopes, drainage, and compaction. Ability to read grading plans, construction drawings, stakes, and specifications. Experience with GPS, lasers, or machine grade-control systems. Ability to safely operate graders and other heavy equipment. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. First Aid and CPR certification, or the ability to obtain it. Ability to pass required pre-employment screening. Physical and Working Conditions Ability to regularly enter and exit heavy equipment. Ability to climb, bend, kneel, and work on uneven terrain. Ability to lift and carry up to 70 pounds. Ability to work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, dust, mud, and snow. Ability to safely work around traffic, trenches, utilities, and moving equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical Demands (The nature of physical effort leading to physical fatigue) The Foreman has a physically strenuous and demanding job. He/she will be lifting, pulling and managing heavy equipment and objects. The Foreman will have to work in all weather conditions, and must be prepared for both extreme heat and cold. The Foreman must ensure that all activities are completed in a safe and efficient way. Environmental Conditions (The nature of adverse environmental conditions affecting the incumbent) The Foreman must work outside in all different weather conditions including extreme cold and extreme heat. He/she may at times be exposed to dangerous and/or toxic substances and must take necessary precautions to protect eyes, nose and skin from irritation and infection. Sensory Demands (The nature of demands on the incumbent's senses) He/she may at times be exposed to dangerous and/or toxic substances and must take necessary precautions to protect eyes, nose and skin from irritation and infection. Mental Demands (Conditions that may lead to mental or emotional fatigue) The Foreman must work independently and is expected to maintain a schedule of work.
