POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Sheet Metal Fabrication Manager provides direction and expertise in the areas of executing the build plan, ensuring quality, safety, and training. This role is responsible for ensuring manufacturing is safely executing shop orders to meet customer order requirements, comply with quality standards, team member training, and ensure operational efficiencies are being achieved.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide a safe work environment through team member training, work center audits and executing improvement plans.
- Efficiently execute build plan along with shop floor workbench to ensure on time completion of sub-assemblies and/or customer orders.
- Ensure up time of capital equipment and tooling including preventative maintenance.
- Advocate quality by maintaining company and/or work center specific quality standards including manufacturing documented processes, preventative maintenance, and calibration requirements.
- Manage labor by allocating resources to work centers and planning labor-based capacity plan.
- Develop, maintain, and execute training program for company and work center requirements.
- Manage work in process (WIP) and/or sub-contracted inventory to ensure availability to work centers including inventory levels and obsolescence.
- Develop and maintain 5S principles in work centers to ensure organization of inventory, tools, equipment, and documentation.
- Provide feedback to individuals to ensure team is following company policies, work habits and safety protocols.
- Manage accuracy of raw component, work in process inventory in manufacturing area.
- Share metrics with work centers and develop improvement plans for continual improvement.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
(KPIs): On Time Delivery Labor Efficiency 5S Compliance Preventative Maintenance Inventory Accuracy
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Experienced in Lean Manufacturing Principles, Positive Leadership Skills, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, and Microsoft Productivity Tools.
- Knowledgeable of fabrication machinery including press brakes, laser/punch equipment, welding, and powder coating.
- Exceptional knowledge of reading drawings, programming automated machinery, analytical skills, computer, and understanding of optimum machine utilization.
- Able to work in, lead, and promote a team environment.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision.
- Ability to communicate with all levels within the organization.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Strong interpersonal, communication (verbal & written) and organizational skills.
EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of 10 years' experience in the field of Metal Fabrication.
EDUCATION
- Four Year Degree or equivalent experience.
- Additional professional accreditation/certification a plus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Factory Environment:
Clean, bright, climate-controlled area. Elevated noise level and light industrial chemicals, personal protective equipment required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Lifting may be necessary (up to 50 lbs.). Light bending and reaching. Long periods of walking/standing as well as sitting/computer work.
