The successful candidate will spend significant time in the production areas, working directly with Cell Leaders and employees to ensure daily production requirements are understood, problems are identified early, and commitments for safety, quality, delivery, and productivity are met. Key Responsibilities:
Production & Delivery Direct daily production activities across multiple manufacturing cells and product lines. Review daily production priorities and ensure Line Leaders and employees understand expectations at the start of the shift. Monitor production performance throughout the day against established targets and schedules. Identify production shortfalls early and develop appropriate recovery actions. Adjust staffing and resources based on production priorities, attendance, equipment availability, and changing customer requirements. Communicate production risks, shortages, downtime, and other issues promptly to management and appropriate support departments. Ensure accurate production reporting, inventory transactions, backflushing, and related documentation. People Leadership Directly supervise, coach, and develop Line Leaders and production employees. Establish clear expectations and consistently hold employees accountable for performance, attendance, quality, safety, and workplace conduct. Maintain an active presence on the manufacturing floor and regularly communicate with employees regarding priorities and performance. Address employee concerns and performance issues promptly and professionally. Partner with Human Resources regarding attendance, performance management, training, staffing, and employee-relations issues. Ensure employees are appropriately trained and cross-trained to support production requirements and job rotation. Safety & Quality Maintain a safe work environment and consistently enforce company safety requirements. Respond immediately to safety concerns and support corrective and preventive actions. Ensure employees follow established work instructions, quality standards, inspection requirements, and documented processes. Respond quickly to quality concerns to prevent continued production of nonconforming material. Work with Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, and other support functions to resolve recurring production issues. Equipment & Process Performance Identify equipment and process problems affecting production and escalate them quickly to the appropriate resources. Coordinate with Maintenance and technical personnel regarding equipment downtime and production priorities. Ensure required preventive maintenance and production documentation is completed accurately. Maintain clean, safe, and organized production areas. Identify opportunities to improve workflow, productivity, quality, material handling, and labor utilization. Participate in continuous-improvement, lean-manufacturing, and special-project activities. What We're Looking For High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree or additional technical/leadership education preferred. At least 4 years of manufacturing experience with demonstrated leadership or supervisory responsibility. Experience supervising multiple production areas, cells, or competing manufacturing priorities strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to lead employees, address performance problems, and maintain accountability. Strong production planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to recognize developing problems and take action before they significantly affect production or delivery. Comfortable making decisions and adjusting priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Basic computer skills and experience working with manufacturing production and inventory systems. Willingness to complete company-required supervisory development or college-level supervisory training within 18 months of hire. The Leader We're Looking For The right person for this position is visible, engaged, organized, and accountable . You should be comfortable walking the production floor, asking questions, reviewing production numbers, coaching employees, moving resources when priorities change, and communicating problems before they become emergencies. Success in this role means knowing: What are we supposed to produce today? Where are we against the plan? What is preventing us from meeting it? What are we doing about it?
