Position Summary We are seeking an experienced SMT Supervisor to lead and coordinate daily Surface Mount Technology (SMT) production activities in a high-mix, low-to-medium volume contract manufacturing environment. The SMT Supervisor will oversee SMT operators, technicians, and line leads while ensuring production goals for safety, quality, delivery, and productivity are met. This position will be responsible for production scheduling, machine setup and changeovers, employee development, process improvement, and adherence to IPC standards and customer specifications. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong SMT manufacturing experience who can effectively manage people, processes, and production priorities. Key Responsibilities Production Management Supervise daily SMT operations, including screen printing, solder paste inspection (SPI), pick-and-place, reflow, and automated optical inspection (AOI). Ensure production schedules are completed efficiently and customer delivery commitments are met. Coordinate machine setups, changeovers, and line balancing. Monitor throughput, utilization, yield, efficiency, and downtime. Communicate production priorities and schedule changes to operators and technicians. Team Leadership Lead, coach, and develop SMT operators, technicians, and production leads. Provide ongoing feedback and conduct performance evaluations. Develop employee training and cross-training plans. Promote a culture of safety, quality, teamwork, and accountability. Assist with hiring, onboarding, staffing, and disciplinary decisions. Quality Ensure compliance with IPC-A-610, IPC-J-STD-001, and customer-specific workmanship standards. Partner with Quality Engineering to identify defects and implement corrective actions. Monitor first-pass yield, defect trends, and process capability. Support internal, customer, and third-party audits. Ensure proper documentation and product traceability. Process Improvement Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, and cost reduction. Utilize Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and root-cause analysis techniques. Identify production bottlenecks and implement corrective actions. Support new product introductions (NPI) and process validations. Equipment & Maintenance Coordinate preventative maintenance activities with SMT technicians and maintenance personnel. Ensure proper setup and operation of SMT equipment, including printers, placement machines, reflow ovens, AOI, and related equipment. Monitor equipment performance and escalate issues when necessary. Coordinate with equipment vendors and service providers as needed. Materials & Inventory Support accurate material staging and line replenishment. Ensure proper handling and storage of ESD-sensitive and moisture-sensitive components. Monitor component shortages and communicate risks to Production Planning and Materials teams. Maintain inventory accuracy for feeders, tooling, and consumables. Safety & Compliance Enforce company safety policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with OSHA, ESD, and environmental requirements. Conduct safety audits and follow up on corrective actions. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production environment. Required Qualifications Associate degree in Electronics, Manufacturing Technology, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered. 3-5 years of SMT manufacturing experience. 2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience in an electronics manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of SMT processes, PCB assembly, and contract manufacturing operations. Experience with SMT equipment such as Fuji, Yamaha, Panasonic, ASM, Mycronic, Juki, or similar platforms. Working knowledge of IPC-A-610 and

standards. Experience using ERP systems. Strong problem-solving, communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Preferred Qualifications

Certified IPC Specialist (CIS) or Certified IPC Trainer (CIT). Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification. Experience in high-mix/low-volume EMS manufacturing. Knowledge of
