Summary:

The Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all aspects of plant operations and managing departmental team members during their assigned shift. This role places a strong emphasis on quality control, productivity, and ensuring Packers and Operators remain on task. The Shift Supervisor serves as a hands-on leader, actively supporting production while guiding and developing the hourly team.

Responsibilities:

Perform a full range of supervisory functions to support production output and maintain workflow according to schedule. Monitor Packers to ensure productivity standards are met; assign duties and adjust staffing as needed. Coordinate and manage employee break schedules to ensure continuous production flow. Utilize Operators to troubleshoot and resolve processing issues, minimizing downtime. Conduct routine quality checks on all active production lines and document results accurately. Perform the First Part Approval Process at the start of each shift, including product review and required photo documentation submitted to management. Communicate key production, staffing, and quality issues to the Department Production Manager in a timely manner. Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment. Lead by example as a hands-on contributor on the production floor.

Education & Experience:

Proven experience in a production or manufacturing environment. Prior supervisory experience managing 15-20 direct reports preferred. Strong working knowledge of production operations and workflow management. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data entry systems (SAP or similar ERP systems). Demonstrates leadership, communication, and team management skills.

Requirements:

Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. Excellent organizational and time management abilities. Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 25-50 lbs as needed. Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and overtime as required. Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
