CNC Machining Team Lead
Job Description
In this position, the CNC Machining Team Lead functions as a hands-on supervisor, managing a group of staff within a dynamic manufacturing facility that specializes in high-mix, low-volume production. Core Duties Assist in the recruitment and hiring of new staff members. Help onboard and instruct incoming personnel to ensure they are prepared for their roles. Execute performance evaluations at the 30, 60, and 90-day marks, as well as yearly. Mentor staff members to help them improve their professional capabilities and overall output. Track team performance and punctuality, coordinating with the Shop Floor Manager when necessary. Represent the team in daily cross-departmental briefings and bi-weekly production planning sessions. Maintain accurate documentation regarding any disciplinary actions taken. Collaborate with various departments to ensure collective objectives are met. Manage the procurement of necessary parts and tooling. Assign work orders by evaluating the current capacity and expertise of team members. Oversee the maintenance and inventory of the tool vending system. Facilitate cross-training initiatives to build a more versatile workforce. Perform visual quality checks to ensure parts meet standards. Demonstrate proficiency in operating all departmental equipment. Professional Qualifications Completion of a High School diploma or GED is mandatory. Additional education from a trade or vocational institution is a plus. Five years of prior supervisory experience is highly desirable. Demonstrated skill in running manual and CNC lathes and mills. Proven ability to contribute to team projects or manage individual assignments effectively. Strong aptitude for utilizing precision measurement instruments like calipers and tape measures.
