About the
Role :
Lead the production specimen preparation machine shop, mechanical testing laboratory, and metallurgical laboratory personnel in the generation and completion of testing in support of manufacturing. Provide technical direction to ensure testing is accomplished to all internal and external specifications and requirements. Qualification s (P referred & R equired):
Education:
Associates degree in supervision, management, or related field. (R)
Experience:
Five years of management experience in testing or quality (R).
Areas of Knowledge:
Quality systems (R), industrial safety (R), industry standards (Nadcap, ASTM, GE, Pratt, etc.) (R), metallography (R), machining of test specimens (R), audits(R), mechanical testing (R), calibration requirements (R)
Skills:
Leadership (R), organizational skills{R), communication{R), conflict resolution(R), problem solving(R), prioritizing(R), technical expertise in testing and machining(R), planning (R)
Role Responsibilities :
Ensure the appropriate safety documentation is being maintained and training conducted. This includes, but not limited to:
JSA, LOTO, MVO
checklists, daily safety talks, monthly and semi-annual safety audits, and monthly safety meetings. Supervise staff in areas of responsibility. Write and modify programs for mechanical testing. Foster a culture of individual growth and cross training for maximum efficiency. Develop and/or modify SOPs to maintain currency with standards and best practices and ensure compliance with the SOPs. Ensure that the proper resources and supplies are available for production levels. Facilitate all round-robin and proficiency testing programs, as needed. Review all product reviews to remain in compliance with all standards. Ensure preventative and remedial maintenance and calibrations are coordinated and completed. Assist with the preparation and conduct of all internal and external audits. Field testing questions from internal and external parties. Possess and demonstrate an expert understanding of the processes, procedures, and equipment used throughout the production testing areas. Perform mechanical and metallurgical method audits.
