About the
Role :
Supervise the production machine shop and test lab personnel to ensure production testing is completed safely, efficiently, and in a timely manner in accordance with all internal and external standards, specifications, and practices.
Qualifications :
( Required and Preferred )
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent (R)
Experience:
Five years of management experience in testing or quality (R).
Areas of Knowledge:
Quality systems (R), industrial safety (R), industry standards (Nadcap, ASTM, GE, Pratt, etc.) (R), machining of test specimens (R), mechanical testing (R), calibration requirements (R), blueprint reading (R)
Skills:
Leadership (R), organizational skills (R), communication (R), conflict resolution (R), problem solving (R), prioritizing (R), technical expertise in testing and machining (R), planning (R), spreadsheet and database (P)
Role Responsibilities :
Ensure the appropriate safety documentation is being maintained and training conducted. This includes, but is not limited to, JSA, LOTO, MVO checklists, daily safety talks, monthly and semi-annual safety audits, and monthly safety meetings. Supervise staff in areas of responsibility. Maintain accurate timekeeping and schedules and approve timecards. Ensure calibrations and preventive maintenance are completed on time. Ensure compliance with the SOPs. Ensure that the proper resources and supplies are available for production levels. Review all product reviews to remain in compliance with all standards. Enter purchase requests for supplies. Assist with the preparation and conduct of all internal and external audits as needed. Field queries from internal and external parties regarding testing status. Possess and demonstrate an understanding of the processes, procedures, and equipment used throughout the production testing areas. Conduct formal reviews of write/revise quality documents for and trains direct reports on specifications, customer requirements, industry standards, and Nadcap requirements. Ensure documented procedures are being followed, and proper documentation is completed/maintained. Conduct method audits, as directed, in compliance with SOPs and QCIs. Prioritize and maintain workflow through the testing process. Schedule, maintain and post overtime to meet production demands in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement. Enter tests results into the computer database. Being cognizant of values entered to identify potential trends. Make suggestions and lead activities for the improvement of existing processes.
