Orchid Orthopedic Solutions is seeking a Working Lead, Machining to coordinate daily production of orthopedic components while remaining fully hands-on at the machines. In this role you will set up and operate CNC equipment, guide machinists on complex jobs, prioritize work orders, and ensure safety, quality, and throughput targets are met in a regulated medical device environment. You will perform in-process inspections, troubleshoot issues with tooling and programs, support continuous improvement, and partner closely with quality and engineering to maintain compliance and drive better patient outcomes. Responsibilities Lead daily machining operations while working hands-on at CNC machines Set up, operate, and adjust CNC equipment to produce orthopedic components Prioritize and assign work to meet schedule, quality, and safety targets Train and mentor machinists on setups, tooling, and best practices Perform in-process inspections and maintain production documentation Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and basic program issues Coordinate with quality and engineering to resolve nonconformances Support continuous improvement, 5 S, and standard work initiatives Ensure compliance with medical device and ISO quality standards Communicate shift status, issues, and performance metrics to supervision Required Skills CNC machining setup and operation Reading blueprints and technical drawings Use of precision measurement tools Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) Fixture and tooling selection Basic CNC programming or editing Shop floor leadership and training Production scheduling and workflow coordination Quality inspection and documentation Lean manufacturing/5 S practices
