Job Description

Orchid Orthopedic Solutions is seeking a Working Lead, Machining to guide daily shop-floor activities producing precision orthopedic components. This hands-on role runs CNC equipment, performs setups and changeovers, and troubleshoots machining issues while coordinating work for a small team of operators. The Working Lead ensures products meet tight quality and regulatory standards, completes documentation, and partners with engineering on process improvements. Responsibilities include training operators, monitoring safety and throughput, resolving quality concerns, and supporting continuous improvement in a highly regulated medical device environment focused on patient outcomes. Responsibilities Lead day-to-day activities for a small machining team on the shop floor Set up, operate, and adjust CNC machines producing orthopedic components Perform changeovers, tooling and fixture setups, and basic program or offset edits Inspect parts using precision measurement tools to meet tight tolerances and quality standards Complete and verify production and quality documentation in a regulated environment Train and mentor operators on machining methods, safety, and standard work Troubleshoot equipment and process issues to minimize downtime and scrap Collaborate with engineering and quality on process improvements and root cause analysis Monitor safety, 5 S, and compliance with work instructions and ISO/medical device requirements Support production scheduling, prioritization, and communication across shifts and departments Required Skills CNC machine setup and operation Reading and interpreting blueprints and GD&TPrecision measurement and inspection tools Process troubleshooting and optimization Basic programming/editing of CNC offsets Fixture and tooling setup Root cause analysis for quality issues Production scheduling and prioritization Shop safety and lockout/tagout practices Documentation in regulated/ISO environments
