Job Description
The Yard Foreman is responsible for keeping the yard running smoothly each day. This position works closely with Dispatch, Operations, and Maintenance to make sure equipment is organized, ready to go, and available when our customers need it. This role works closely with Dispatch, Operations, Maintenance and field personnel to ensure equipment readiness, proper inventory management, and smooth coordination of logistical activities. Key Responsibilities
- Work with Dispatch each day to prepare equipment for upcoming jobs.
- Help organize daily yard activities and make sure work is completed safely and efficiently.
- Coordinate inbound and outbound equipment, rigging, and customer-owned equipment.
- Ensure load-out paperwork, rigging records and equipment documentation are completed and accurate.
- Keep the yard organized so equipment can be located, inspected, and loaded efficiently.
- Ensure post-rental inspections are completed and documented.
- Assist with training employees in company policy and safe work practices.
- Serve as a backup for Dispatch when needed.
- Receive maintenance requests and coordinate repairs with the Maintenance Department.
- Work with Operations and Maintenance to prioritize equipment repairs and communicate equipment availability.
- Participate in maintenance planning meetings.
- Coordinate repairs and service work with outside vendors when necessary.
- Review maintenance records and inspection reports to ensure equipment is ready for service.
- Ensure required rigging and equipment inspections are completed.
- Promote safe work practices in a clean, organized, and professional yard.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Experience working around cranes, rigging, or heavy equipment.
- Previous experience coordinating work crews, yard operations, or equipment logistics preferred.
- Good understanding of crane operations, rigging, and equipment handling.
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Mechanical knowledge and equipment experience are preferred.
- Ability to work well with Dispatch, Operations, Maintenance, and field personnel.
- Experience operating heavy equipment preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 50lbs regularly.
- Work in outdoor environments, including varying weather conditions.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and work around heavy equipment throughout the day.
- Ability to safely navigate an active equipment yard.
