Position Overview Job Title:
Yard Leader (Automotive Logistics)
Location:
Shelby township-area (interviews conducted in-person in Allen Park, MI)
Reports To:
Operations Manager and/or Group Leader The company transports new vehicles from manufacturing plants to satellite storage lots. The Yard Leader supervises daily yard operations while also working alongside the team for much of the shift.
Schedule Dayshift:
starts between 7:00 AM-8:00 AM and end between 3:30-4:30 PM , scheduled 5 of 7 days per week . Key Responsibilities Supervise vehicle porters and yard staff Lead daily yard operations Ensure vehicles are accurately received and tracked Train employees on: Vehicle inspections Scanners/computer systems Yard management procedures Quality and safety processes Enter and manage data in Excel Complete daily paperwork and reports Enforce company safety and HR policies Solve operational problems in a fast-paced environment Required Qualifications Experience Supervisory experience (required) Automotive industry experience (required) Experience working in production or logistics environments Experience managing teams in a fast-paced setting Excel/data-entry experience Must provide a resume showing automotive supervisory experience Education High school diploma or GED College Degree (associates of bachelors) Skills Leadership and team management Problem-solving and decision-making Verbal and written communication Intermediate computer skills Ability to train and motivate employees Driving Requirements Applicants must: Be 23-70 years old Have at least 2 years of licensed U.S. driving experience Have no major driving violations within the last 5 years Disqualifying violations include:
DUI/OWI/DWI
Reckless driving Hit-and-run Racing Driving with a suspended license Felony involving a motor vehicle Fleeing/eluding police License suspension for points Speeds exceeding 100 mph Manslaughter/negligent homicide involving a vehicle Physical Requirements The role is highly active and requires: Constant standing and walking Frequent twisting and repetitive motion Occasional kneeling, bending, squatting, crawling, climbing Occasional lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs Working outdoors and around moving vehicles/equipment Exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, dust, and fumes Ideal Candidate A strong candidate would have: Automotive yard, logistics, dealership, manufacturing, or fleet experience Previous supervisory or team lead experience Good Excel and computer skills Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities Comfort working outdoors in a fast-paced vehicle environment
